When I started this I had basic knowledge of audio systems, and had never attempted a install of any type before. Everything I did I read online first and it all went together smoothly and problem free. Lots of research!

This is how I wired my subs. 2 - 8" subs, Dual voice coils, 4ohm.

What might someone do if they had a 2 channel amp? I wired mine each + and - to each + and - on my amp, is there a better alternative i have overlooked?

 

If you're bridging from a two channel just go from the + from one channel and the negative from the other channel.

 

1 speaker or 2 ? dual or single voice coil ? Ohms of each voice coil ? ohms the amp is rated for ?

 

Not trying to thread crap here vash, but ive got the same setup as Vash only a 2 channel amp.

It took me a couple days to wait for the right moment, but I asked my buddy that I'm selling the mustang for if I could use his shop to finish the miata. He's retired and really uses the shop only to hang out and have something to do, so its kinda just sitting there. Lift, air tools, parts washer, welder, just about everything I could need. Not to mention its INSIDE! Below is a picture from the first turbo install when I used his shop years ago....

Anyways....I asked him today if I could bring the miata down and he said yes. I'll probably shoot for Monday of next week. Cool thing is besides his shop, I have a welder nextdoor, my bodyshop guy I use is there, a cleaner/tint man, and a guy that just moved in this past year that hook's up hondas. The honda guy will probably give me a hand with the MS, he said he was interested in checking it out.

Now I just need to re-check my list and order anything I might have forgot. I know I can't overstay my welcome inside his shop....so I better be ready to knock it out quickly.

I'm down at the shop working on the car as I write this, and just wanted to log on and share my joy with everyone. I pulled the turbo, heated the ****** with a heat gun, and after about 10 rubber mallet smacks its clocked and the FM silicone pipes fit perfect. My only concern is I remember reading that you need to notch the frame about 1/2in. I was able to fit everything without cutting the frame, should I leave it as is? I couldn't tell if the notch was to help with space to put the turbo back on the mani/dp, or if it was for clearance when the motor moves.

Now I'm gonna start on pulling the fuel rail and putting the new tuner toys one in with the 460cc injectors. I also talked with the guy that runs the honda shop nextdoor and he said he'll help me take care of tuning the MSPNP when I get to that point. I'm just happy I got a good start today!

Came home for lunch and figured I would post some pics. Now I need to read up on the whole notch in the frame to see how important that really is before I bolt the turbo back on 100%.

How much clearance do you have with out notching? The issue is going to be clearance when the motor rocks that way. Cutting the notch in is easy and quick, I'd just do it.

 

i wouldnt worry about notching the frame. It should be fine.

 

Yeah, you look like you have plenty of room. I wouldn't notch.

 

Not sure if it is on the list or not, but I'd protect the heater hoses more. I've had one blow, and it isn't fun. Looks good!

 

I actually remembered to grab the heat shield and the intake box when I stopped home. I'm gonna have to cut the heat shield though, it hits the dp. And I'm still undecided on the intake setup, so far I have 3 different filters and about......700 million couplers and pipes.

I have to pull the turbo one last time anyway before I bolt it down, so I'm just gonna make the notch. I think I'd rather be safe than sorry, than have to **** with the mani/dp bolts again if it does hit.

Just think of all the weight you're loosing while you're doing it and it'll be easier to do Looks like it's really coming along nice though, I don't think I could ever be patient enough to do a project this way.

 

Well, made the notch I did.....2 minutes and I wont have to worry about it. I got pretty much everything on the right side done, with exception to the heat shield. The tabs with the mounting holes are ******* me in the back. Not to mention I had to hack the side of it apart to make it work. I'm stupid for not returning things.....ever. But **** me, I feel like I might start.

Now I'm on to the fuel rail and shitz. I cut my hand up on the heat shield and was lucky enough to spill every drop of gas that came out of the hose right into the bloody gash. Nice!

I am tired as **** and smoked wayy too much ganja while working on the car tonight. But I'll tell you what.....its what kept me patient and motivated!

Thanks to everyone that is keeping tabs on the build. I know its been ridiculously long, but I hope to finish it one day. I have lots more to come in the next couple of days.
