Default leaky C-clamp

Have a leaky c-clamp on my turbo... I get some exhaust fumes coming out through the bit that is "open" where the bolt passes through. Whats going on here? Do I need a new seal?
Boost is fine, it pulls like a train still ;-)
Cheers
Steve

really? Ah come on... any pic of a GReddy turbo with an arrow pointing at the centre of it will do... I've got a bit of soot/exhaust fumes coming out at the clamp in the middle of the turbo's body (you know... the circular clamp that holds the turbo together.. big shiny ring thing )

i wouldn't call that a c-clamp. but i can't imagine how exhaust is coming from there unless it's cracked.

I dont have a tdo4 turbo so it's hard to visualize what your saying son. but your CHRA section and turbine housing are not mating correctly, which is bad in a number of ways.

Most turbo's don't have that awkward clamp holding them together. Atleast none of the 4 that I own do. You either have a crack in one of the housings or there is some major carbon buildup and is causing it to not seal appropriately so takeing it apart for a cleaning might help. Either way you need to inspect the problem on your own.

cheers, thanks for the feedback, I was mostly wondering if this was a common issue and whether anyone else had had it.
In the middle of replacing the cam follower on our Jeep XJ Diesel, so that'll be the next job.

yeah, tightened the clamp about 6 months ago when I first noticed it. It would only do a half turn yesterday when I tried again. Might take it apart over the winter and clean it out.

Running 11.5 psi daily now, waiting on larger injectors + dual feed fuel pipe before going to 13 or 15 daily.
