I recommend focusing on learning to drive on track and waiting for the 2017 rules to post, because D and E will probably be dead.

Shaft Diameter? That's a new one.
Read the rules here: https://www.nasaproracing.com/rules

3 points for non-BTM shocks, no reservoirs
2 points for non-BTM springs

Xidas = 5 points.

I doubt D and E will be dead. The rules will certainly be different, but there'll be a place for the current D and E cars.
It maybe called TT6 or TT7 and maybe a straight W/P ratio, but there's too many current 'customers' to not have a place for the cars.

I'm from Columbus, Ohio. Look me up at the next event!

Run it really heavy on a * reclass.

Or this. By the time you earn your TT license, it might be 2017 anyways.

Even if they're not totally dead (and by dead I mean renamed to TT5/6/7, no one expects NASA to completely give up on slow car racing), it's looking rather likely that there will be a significant rules change. Maybe not, either way, too early to start speculating how to prep a car for 2017 season for D/E yet.

Shaft diameter rule does exist, just doesn't apply to Xidas.

Here is the second attempt at uploading the record lap. It's only 360p, but at least watchable.
GoPro Hero2 is ancient by now...

Listen to that open diff! LOL

Full 1080 comes up fine for me. (Youtube usually takes a few minutes before it processes all the levels).

Lol, yeah, that poor open diff. Not a chance on putting power down in those slower turns.

Jeff is pressuring me into stock sways and R7s over sways and SM7s but i currently love the way it handles and don't want to risk it :(
I missed that there was no diff in your current setup and I haven't checked out the 2016 rulebook for tire points.

Are any of the OG's going to come out of the woodwork this year for some whooping in E/D? At either championships?

I think all the OG's (former national champs) have left PT. New blood is fast though. Taking up the fight quite well. The full points build NB1 has never won nationals or T25 though. I'd like to see that.

Just playing with the NASA calculator, this is what I would build:

NB1, 2410# 146whp
83.5mm 9.9:1 blueprinted
full exhaust
stock cast header
MS3 Pro
E85
CAI
Xida 1000/400
stock sway bars
OS Giken & 4.77
15x9 6UL
SM7

Pretty much what we ran in 2013 but now with 2pts leftover that I would use for ELBJ's.

Do you think a NA with vvt would be competitive or I'm I wasting my time?

Use all 19 points well, and anything can be "competitive" regionally.

There's a very fast vvt swapped NA in my region. He's even on a TTE no-star reclass and uses the 7 asterisk points on wing/airdam. He has the PT record, I have the TT record. Our cars are about as different as two NASA PT/TTE Miatas can get.

Since the rulebook is massively changing in 2017 you're wasting your time worrying about what is competitive under the 2016 rules.

Then put your little hand in mine. There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb. Babe I got You Babe, I got You Babe. Ok Campers rise and shine and don't forget your boots....

Guaranteed to set a new lap record at pretty much every track in the US.

Oops, your right. I never looked at the reservoir sections.

And your also right about not spending money prep'ing a car for unknown rules. I did finally sell the sport brake setup I bought in the fall of '13 for my '99 when they split NB1 and NB2 in the '14 rules.

You would rather have the extended ball joints over ARBs?

I would maybe consider front lower offset bushings to get to a desirable camber level for free and switch to 205mm R7 which is only 1 more point than SM7. Then one additional point to use for something trivial.
