The 10MHz receiver isn't going to fix the inherent position error in the GPS system. Trust me, I have one, and I still have that problem.

The best thing seems to be to mount the receiver somewhere in the car where it will have the best possible view of the sky at all times, since this will reduce the amount of position error. The closer to a 360° view the better, I think.

I know this is probably going to sound retarded....BUT

Would this app also work to track your movement through the woods for hunting and use the splits as marker points for a point of interest?

Seems like an app that draws your path and then shows you if you are on the path or not would be handy.

FYI the developer of RaceChrono is working on an Android version that should be released in the next few months. When he does, it could knock Trackmaster's dick in the dirt, as well as some of the more expensive stand-alone data acquisition systems. More info here...

I have used RaceChrono on a Microsoft OS smartphone and it works fine. If he includes features like bluetooth ODB-II logging (already has that in the current version), 2D accelerometer support, and a better interface, look out.

I do not think it will work for that so much. Maybe you could set your split markers as your waypoints and do it that way. But I'll bet if you check you will find an app that is better suited to that.

I'd try something like Endomondo or Google My Tracks, both free apps. They'll track you real time and plot your course on a Google map, give you elevation changes (Endomondo only on their website, My Tracks on the phone), and typically click off a marker every mile. Endomondo has a social network component if you are into that, and your info is automatically uploaded to their website to share. My Tracks keeps it all on your phone but you can export it to Google Earth later if you want to.

There's a bunch of apps aimed at workouts that might be better. I've an app called Trip Journal that might work also.
