Ice in the camelback of course, same as the in-car system. Stuff in as much ice as possible, fill the rest with water. The big camelbacks hold about 3 liters. Keep the flow rate down to the minimum needed for comfort.

That first link is basically exactly what I am describing, except you replace the man-purse/fanny pack with a Camelback.

This is key, but down about two waters to every gatorade.

Also, you'd be surprised that the miracle that UnderArmor long sleeve shirts are.

You seriously may have just designed the system I'll be trying to rig together in a few months. Hopefully the Camelback will insulate well enough to keep the ice there long enough to be useful.

Cool, interested to see how it works. The Camelbacks insulate a bit but not as well as an ice chest. Insulating the feed/return tubes would help a lot since they will be out in the wind.

I use the Taichi undersuit myself. That, a pair of boxers, and my back/chest protector was all I wore under my leathers. I did some testing for Moto Liberty a few years back of several different undegarments and the Taichi was the one that seemed to work the best. I wrote an online article about it though I do not know where it is posted these days. It is really comfortable too. I wore it around the pits between sessions, though I look pretty stupid in a blue smurf (Taichi) suit and a cowboy hat.

A terry cloth hand towel dipped in cold icechest water and draped over the head after coming off of the the track will cool you back down really fast. That was standard procedure for us last year.

If you build your own system for a car, it is worth it to buy the shirt from a vendor ($125) and plug it in.
