Thanks for posting that. My main hurdle for installing an oil temp gauge was not wanting to tap the 1.6 pan a second time. This looks like a good interim solution, though I think I'd prefer the sensor up out of the way on the side of the pan for debris clearance and oil changes.

I want to do this too but I know I will need an oil cooler to run turbo'd at a track so I'm thinking of just getting a sandwhich adapter with sensor ports and going that route to begin with.

Word of warning on using second hand oil coolers. any time you have an engine failure you got to replace the oil cooler, or you'll trash the new motor. unless you know where the cooler came from don't use it. also watch out for generic fittings from jegs and summit. i've done the side by side comparo with summit lines vs earls and it was noticeable quality difference. fitting's and coolers are cheap when compared to a new motor.
