Miata cooling system thread
Ah I see now. That actually looks quite clean! Have you tested them with string to see if they are effective in pulling air out?
Thinking about upgrading from ebay alu 42mm radiator to a crossflow one, what about a real comparison between 949 and TSE versions? Some experiences about?
ps. i am tracking a 1.6 gt28rs (reroute no AC) with outside temp in the 80-90 F° range and hitting 245/250 F° after 5/6 laps...

Both are extremely nice heat exchangers. I'm personally running the SuperMiata (949) and it's is very light. I am still tempted by the Trackspeed but have decided to fund other items since my car doesn't demand more from cooling yet
I believe the TSE radiator has higher cooling capacity which can be necessary for high horsepower turbo track cars. That is why it's more expensive. The 949 radiator is still a great radiator but is cheaper and adequate for any street car and most any track car that is not a high horsepower turbo car. I have the FM radiator because when my radiator blew up TSE didn't have any in stock and 949's did not exist. The FM radiator has also been great and I drive a turbo car that sees the track.

I haven't hit the cooling ceiling just yet, but if I take it on the track (and having kept A/C) I'm pressured into wanting the trackspeed. But I'm going to try to improvise some ducting before I switch out radiators as that would make a significant difference.

Ducting and radiator will go a long way. If you're truly worried, and have the funds, just jump on the trackspeed. It will probably be overkill, but you probably won't have to revisit it. I did things backwards and if I had shrouded/ducted before, I might have spared cutting my hood.
I don't think I have seen anyone do back to back comparisons between TSE and 949. What was posted above of the differences are probably about right. For 95% of the people the 949 is probably more then adequate. For the higher HP turbo track cars the TSE is probably a bit better due to bigger capacity.
