Oil sandwich plate: which to get?
I have that on my95 and it's been solid. Works with honda and subaru oil filters too.

Enh. The "oil warmer" behaviour of the factory oil/water heat exchanger really doesn't improve warmup time much. I've run mine both with and without, and the difference before my oil temp gauge lifts off the peg isn't significant. Maybe it'd be different somewhere that's significantly colder than California.
My own experience was quite different. I retrofitted a 1.8-style oil thingamabob onto my '92 engine, and noticed a fairly significant improvement in oil warmup times. This was during winter / spring in San Diego, where overnight lows were typically in the 40s-60s.
