Update: some of our street testing showed that we had a bearing problem. We switched to a different bearing manufacturer and the play is gone, but that made us miss the window for the COTA test. We'll get something else scheduled ASAP.

Keith, that is fantastic news that the new bearing seems to be resolving the issue thus far. I am looking forward to seeing how these perform under a heavier duty cycle.

Lars, I agree that it is a pretty simple job to swap out the front hubs. My reservation is more budget related than fear of wrench time. I would much prefer to hand over my hard earned cash to Bauer/FM for the new hub design than buy a stock replacement that i will have to swap out later anyways.

Looks like they will be racing this weekend with the best possible testers. Fingers crossed.

We now have over 450 miles of race pace testing, a fastest lap and a race win No apparent problems, but they haven't been through the post-race inspection yet.

More info to come as it develops.

I registered just so I could come here and ask what is the latest on this development? Hasn't been updated in over two months. I tell you, I've been wanting taper bearing fronts for a while so I don't feel so bad about beating the crap out of the bearings at the track, plus I would much prefer the longer service interval the taper bearings would afford us. I'm throwing my money at the screen as I type!

They're back on the track again this weekend for another 15 hours of running. This will hopefully be the final confirmation. So far, no problems.

Default Update?

How did the weekend of torture testing of the taper bearing hub go? Extremely well, I hope. Pictures if you can!

I am curious which car it was. There was another team in an NA and a team in a 2JZ swapped NB that I would say were good testers. Hopefully it was the 2JZ NB, because they were in GP1 and drove hard.

Well, the race was a success. In terms of we found a weakness. They got floppy on us. We have a theory and an idea for a solution, but we need to confirm exactly what the failure looked like.

This is why you test.

At the moment, all I have is that there was considerable play. Anything else is theorizing until we get our hands on the used parts.

Oh wow. Two cars at the T25 ran these, already.
And made in the USA?

Not China?

Very nice.

Front wheel rolling past you as you grind to a halt is about as expensive.
