Slowly making progress. This seemed to go so much faster when I was reading about it in thumpetto's build.
Nice clean flywheel, bolts torqued to 75ft/lb with locktite blue. This is the correct pilot bearing, it should have rubber seals not metal shields.

I used brakleen instead of carb cleaner, I will spray each surface one more time before assembly.
All the seals in the tranny. Hopefully it will be working by tomorrow. 2 tanks of gas to break it in huh? I guess I will wire the wastegate open and run a bunch of errands all next week.
I would like to make it to Wednesday night drags next week if it's on.

Fwiw I completely forgot to break my clutch in. I did launch control and flat shift within the first 3 miles.

no need to wire anything open, the only thing is to stay away from heavy abuse, like clutch dumps and power shifts, otherwise just drive her and she'll be fine. I never really ever did any "break in" procedure on clutches. just tell people: "drive normal, like a normal person, not a maniac, for a couple hundo miles"

So maybe I will wake up early and try to finish in the morning. Then do some gentle launches at the drag strip.
Thanks for the info guys!

How the F can you break in a clutch for 750 miles (as per fm's instructions)
Impossible.

Don't think I will make the drag race tonight. But it's on the next 2 weeks also.
Got the clutch cleaned and torqued with locktite.Tranny mated
PPF aligned, all tranny and both starter bolts torqued, clutch adjusted. Driveshaft on, filled with fluid. Spent 10 minutes looking for my muffler, duh, I didn't take it off.
Snapped this pic so there will be no doubt what is inside here, almost forgot.

Yay! Back together and running well, I love this thing so much. The new 5 speed is super quiet. My car is so much quieter now.

Thanks again Lars for making my Miata the coolest car in the neighborhood!
I might be getting a pair of tires soon so I can run 12's on crap CA91 gas.

Looking for to seeing you do 12's. Also you need to get the runs on video. So I can post them on my site.

Hopefully the video quality from my camera mount inside will be good enough. Similar to my other video, otherwise I might have to get someone to meet me there.
Also found the solution to breaking in my clutch. Just run errands locally for my wife all week, so much enforcement here, if you have any fun with a vehicle at all, they just nail you to the wall. Like driving grandma to church.

Boy, I'll say, especially since mine reciprocates and I'm pretty sure she was born that way.

One tank of gas down, and it was painful, especially since 2 hours of it was stop and go yesterday. I filled up again tonight and will likely be at a half tank by Wednesday night. So I am figuring 1.5 tank break in.
It's difficult for a maniac like me to drive like a normal person for so long. Breaking in my next motor will sure suck.
Can't wait until Wednesday night, there is a crappy weekend event on tomorrow morning but those suck compared to Wednesday night.

Marked the wastegate porting I need to do, I'm going to do it just like Nigel did.

I did notice that this and 2 other bolt holes go into the turbine housing, not sure if it will be an issue. I remember us all tripping over the bolt holes in the compressor housing on the original turbos, I used nothing on mine and haven't had a problem. I think Lars is right that everything is meant to seal well at operating temperature.
The larger turbo, I have searched and can't find specifics: Is it the exact same as the smaller units Lars uses, except for the 60 A/R compressor? Thanks

Basically yes. I have the specs somewhere at home I think.

Almost there, had a crappy day overall, but managed to pull a 13.006. On street tires.
The new clutch is awesome.

RT is my reaction time, it means I red lighted, or launched while the light was still yellow and not green.
I red lighted hard, a quarter of a second.
It doesn't count against 1/4 mile time, it still only took me 13.006, I just left too early.
Really, I had a terrible day, making mistakes left and right.
But I will take a loss at 13.006 and be happy.

Finally figured out what to do with these stickers, they might even show up in my 12 second video I am planning. Hey Nigel, send me a couple Flow Force stickers if you want.

Maybe these will shave a hundredth or two off my time.
