Default Megasquirt ECU shopping list

Hello.

I will be upgrading my Miata to a standalone ECU over this winter.
There is a nearby tuner shop that will do the final tune. I am not paying them to install anything, I only need it running good enough to get to the shop.
I have an NA6 with a BP4W 1.8 on a stock harness, square top intake, and a full exhaust.
I need help gathering a complete parts list.

Purchase list below:
  • Mazda Miata 1990-1993 MSPNP Gen2 PnP ECU pre-tuned for a 1.8 engine
    • Does this ECU need an adapter bracket to mount?
  • TPS adapter, BMW TPS, TPS harness (already purchased)
  • Coil on plug kit
    • I see folks selling Audi and Toyota coils for about the same price. The only difference is in their mounting plate design. Any recommendations?
  • MAF delete
    • What do I need?
    • Delete MAF plug with GM IAT sensor, new charge pipe, filter. anything else?
    • how long does the intake need to be?
    • does anyone sell intake kits?
  • Wideband
  • What do I need to use to the 1.8s hall effect cam sensor instead of the CAS?
  • Will I need a trigger wheel? if so, please show me a kit
Will I be able to get the car running with those parts installed on the stock tune the ECU comes with, or will I be paying towing to get the car to the shop?

Thanks

The ecu just sorta sits on the floor. You can put some self tapers in, but I prefer to just let it sit on a thin piece of padding, it won’t go anywhere.

you only need a AIT sensor to delete the MAF/AFM, placed somewhere in the intake. You can use any NB intake like a K&N, and if you grab a stock NB air temp sensor/pigtail, it’ll fit in it too.

for the cam/crank, you extend the CAS wiring to both cam and crank sensor following the writeup in the VVT swap megathread. You can use the stock 4 tooth trigger wheels but I’d recommend flyin Miata or supermiata 36-2.

it’ll run with a base tune, even without a air temp sensor. Just needs TPS/MAP sensor.

hope this help, and yes, lots of info on turbokitty and here.
