Well, the only way I can think that I could track it down any better would be to strap it down on a dyno and replicate the conditions or to put the rear of the car on jack stands and run the car thru the gears. I could pin point it that way I suppose? From all my years tho, it sounds alot like a bearing. I'll see if I can record the noise.

You're fine. Trust me.

My M45 had a TON of miles and made all sorts of strange ******* noises. I mean, noises like grinding, chirping(srs) and the occasional high pitched shrill. Luckily, I was smart enough to do the correct thing; ran it harder and didn't bother to inspect it.

ORR just remove the belt from the sc and try to replicate the condition

Replacing the nose bearing in an M45 is no big deal, to be frank the quality of the nose bearing in the M45's isn't great. The MP62 uses a much better quality bearing (costs circa £50 for a single bearing for it).

I'd advise pulling the snout off and have the bearing in it replaced.

I want to bump this thread because I love reading it.

I put a m45 on my car and I'm really disappointed. I mean, its better than stock. But the minute the opportunity shows for a turbo, I'm gonna switch.

******* things get too hot for Florida summers. Can't even boost around town because the heat gets to it.

The car in general. Today the temps started to climb and I pulled over. After about a hour of driving then going to redline through 2nd and 3rd gear with the AC on was a bad idea.

I'm not blaming the SC. Then again, I want to blame the SC. I feel like hotside SC's are just a giant heat soak.

if your car is overheating, the sc is not your only problem

Fully aware

But I have a new waterpump, fresh/full coolant, no hose leaks.

I have narrowed it down to these thing

-radiator is on the way out and the additional heat exposed its problems
-my fans aren't kicking on correctly

Still, SC's cause so much heat

is the undertray on and all ducting in place?

sc's generate high intake temps, not much else. sounds like you're just trying to fit in here by hating on superchargers (and there's nothing wrong with that, just hate on them for the appropriate reasons lol)

Ya, all the undertray stuff is on.

I'm not trying to fit in. I'm just disappointed in this whole SC thing. I expected more out of it. Is it normal to feel boost around 3500 rpms on a m45? Everyone says there is no lag on a SC and I'm here wondering if I broke it.

and I'm hoping to combat the IATs by making a shroud or box to direct air from my TSI to the airbox.

Are you running proper engine management or the bandAIDZ?
That would be your answer to no lowend.

As for the rest, yes, they feel pathetic after driving a properly turbo'd car

I hate to admit it, but yes. I have aids. I got aids for $150 bucks. Voodoo box/msd. I was a bright eyed and bushy tailed lad when I thought nothing in this world could go wrong. Then, I bought aids.

And I have sat in a turbo car with aids and it still felt better. Felt like it was gonna blow, but it was much faster.

Sell supercharger, buy MS, learn MS, buy supporting mods for turbo, buy turbo, profit.

This is probably gonna happen. After I finish this last year in school and get a real daily. I can see me taking the miata off the road for a while.

Sounds like a plan.

I, as many others, made the mistake of not purchasing a MS before anything else. If for some reason I ever buy another miata, the very first thing done will be a MS. It really is the best bang/buck mod out there.

a turbo isn't going to fix your broken car.

An old radiator doesn't mean it's a broken car.

No, just gets a little bit warmer than it should.

Sits on the halfway mark or goes a little bit past it.
