These flow quite well, and are simple to hook up.

Ebay bypass valve
I was actually considered ordering one of those. The adjustable 38 mm worked for somebody else with a similar set up as mine but new they run close to $300. I found this bov on EBay for 100

I needed to order a softer spring for my BOV, and while I was at it

against all logic I found myself ordering this as well. At least if things get bad I will have an Italian leather steering wheel in the oversized blue go cart in my backyard LOL

Strut tower brace from a Protege 5, that would be Rustoleum ‘hammered black’

paint on the valve cover over an etching primer. A nice shimmering textured look that hides imperfections, good for lazy people.

A pic of the supercharger prior to reinstallation. I am running a 150 mm TDR overlay and a custom built 70 mm nose pulley. Since removal I have ported the case and done some grinding to prevent contact. I got the car running again last night, but naturally have a few tuning issues to sort out. Apparently I knocked a wire loose or something between my wideband and mega squirt causing the MS to see a very rich signal and lean out the mixture. I’m going to address this tomorrow, tune for a couple of days and hopefully give you guys a nice noisy running video LOL

I have been driving the car but she is burning up belts in 15 or 20 miles, I’m pretty sure the culprit is a mis-aligned tensioner pulley. This wasn’t a problem with the stock 93 mm nose pulley on the Mercedes M62, but the smaller pulley and greater drive resistance seems to amplify any minor flaws in my fabrication and I’ve had to spend a few days getting it locked down better and straightened out. Once I can make it a few days without burning up a belt and get a better tune on her I will post a video. Meanwhile here is a pic of some Tiburon seats I scored at the local pick up part. I bought these because they basically match up measurement wise and they are entirely mechanical, they are dirty but not worn through or ripped anywhere and feel great so they should be a

Positive upgrade to the faded old MX three seats

I have done a few DIY supercharger systems, and aligning the belt is always a pain.

To check alignment I use a 17" long 3/8x1/2" piece of steel, with exacto knife blades glued on. I can then place the bar on the front edge of the main pulley, and note the
exact position of the lower blade on the groves on the main pulley. Keeping the bar against the lower pulley, slide the bar up to see where the upper exacto knife blade rests against
the SC pulley. Of course the SC also has to be mounted parallel to the engine, to achieve the best total alignment.

I use something similar, a precision steel with knife edge. Wasn't cheap, but with DIY SC, this is probably the most critical part, or equal to the SC mount in terms of importance.

Great advice! Yes I am becoming amazed at the amount of hours I have spent on the belt tensioner, And I need to employ one of these systems to ensure proper alignment on the whole system. I have also ordered a Gates fleet runner belt and hopes that gives me a little more leeway. Here’s an outside pic of home paint and.. yep faux CF wrap on hood.

Not perfect for sure, but remember I set this car on fire a year and a half ago with a sloppy FMU adjustment LOL

Ok, lil’ ugly.. added another point of attachment and measured everything meticulously with a T square, hopefully it won’t shred the

Fleetrunner belt.

Default Thoughts on this post’s upgrades..

Car drives great, my gauge shows about 12 psi.. Since blower port & Holley Frostbite IC intake temps are consistently 10 degrees above ambient, (very pleased). I need to tweak drivability again in the mega squirt, tip off needs a little work but all I really did was a VEAL tune

since putting in the new pipes and intake and I’ve driven the car hundreds of miles. She feels fast, but I would like to get some numbers somehow and put them up on my next post. Might be a month or two because I have to move.I will say that a supercharged MX3 is ridiculously and addictively fun to drive LOL

Default Greg Peter special

It has occurred to me that a mid low boost system with very cool AIT‘s basically begs for a dial in on timing, so wherever I do this I’m gonna need some way To avoid knock. $40 at Ace Hardware and here

we have the Greg peters special. LOL I’ll let you know how this thing works
