Default '16/'17 6spd into '15?

I have another thread that answered quite a few questions about the difference in a 5 speed and a 6 speed in the early teen years of production.

The trans that Morgan Motor Cars uses is the Miata 5 speed from like '06 on. I was thinking of when I buy to buy a 6 speed. I've been told here that they are interchangeable but the 6 speed is HUGE compared to the 5 speed of the same years.

On eBay I'm seeing the pricing on the '16/'17 6 speeds now with only a few thousand miles and under $1k. They "look" completely different than their predecessor '15 vintage. They look as small in the mid section and bell housing area of a 5 speed.

Will the '16'/'17 bolt into the same motor as the previous series? I would of course use the appropriate start etc. My use would be in a home built car, not to retro into an earlier Miata.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone is interested in my future project, here is my prior thread and it explains a lot more about my project.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

I doubt they will bolt to the old motor, it's a different motor. You also don't want any part of a 2016+ transmission. They are fragile.

Thanks. The last thing I want is a weak transmission. The Harley motor will be putting out some torque and being a odd firing V-twin, the crank torque pulses will be hard on just about anything behind it.

Thanks again.
