DSD v8r Coilovers vs. Tein Street Flex

Default DSD v8r Coilovers vs. Tein Street Flex

Have an '01. It's used as an everyday driver, which may see future track use, but for now, just a DD, street tires, etc. The PO put on Megan's and a larger front sway. No comment.

Priorities are comfort and adjustability with both ride height and damping. I have a set of control arms with poly bushings/zerks waiting to be installed at the same time and will align and corner balance after.

I've seen NOTHING regarding V8r's setup. I've heard mostly great things about the newer Tein's. They're both around $1000, so that's within my budget. Can't swing Xida's just yet and don't think I can hold out for the Tecna's which may or may not happen. That would have definitely been my choice.

Anyone hear anything from anyone about the DSD's? It's like they only exist online.

I have them on my daily driver NC. I've put about 15k miles on them and they've been great. It's a 09' touring 6speed, RHT, with the DSD's, V8R's front and rear sways, their light weight front subframe, and 17X9 RPF1's with 255/40 RS3's.
The ride is very supple while staying flat in the turns. The car is set up very neutral right now, though next time I put tires on it I'm going back to 245's as I just don't like the feel of the 255's at turn in

V8 Roadsters customer service is above excellent. I don't have their coil-overs, but everything else i have bought from them is as described if not better. I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from them.

V8R coilovers look like the, "we sell derekt from horng kong, we put any labrel rue rike" china shocks that are all over alibab, you know, bc racing etc.

i have never seen ebay-esque coilovers that:
-had an R&D process for valving for a specific chassis, let alone at the proper spring rates
-has adjustable shock body length
-provides dyno plots
-can be rebuilt

although i have to admit ive never looked hard at hong-kong coilovers, but i disagree, these dont fall into that category even if they originate from the same part of the world.

Um all the ebay coilovers have adjustable body length, thats the #1 mark that the shock wont have good travel length and isnt designed for the chassis. I'm sure BC did valving work on their version of the shocks they sell too. But who knows if thats what china actually puts in the shocks or if its different than the ones that they sell under the branding of the month.

Like others said, I'd trust V8R did their homework and has a solid product. For those looking at a more affordable coilover there is also the Feal 441 Monotube coilover. We worked with Feal Suspension to pick the correct shocks for excellent travel length using monotube shocks and extended travel top hats. All Feal coilovers are assembled in the USA with high quality internals, despite their outward appearance. They are also serviceable and Feal Suspension has quick turn around times for their work. Both myself and Ryan run these on our cars, I ditched my FCM Elite coilovers for these.

Two models are available, the Standard 441 with street oriented valving & spring rates (9kg/6kg), or the Road Race 441 for $200 more which includes your choice of springs and much more digressive valving. Both versions come with Swift Springs as standard.
