What are common spec spring rates?

Savington.. I decided to go with revalved Bilsteins. Woul dyou still say to go with the same spring rates you mentioned? If so... I couldn't find any Swift or QA1 springs in 7'' length. Are there any other manufactures out there you would recommend to look at? QA1 makes them, but they aren't listed on Summit.

I think depending on your ride height desired you can run between a 6(up front only) and 8 inch spring.

You can pick up H&R springs for pretty cheap sometimes around $50 (EDIT>Each). I forgot which website sold them though...sorry.

Eibach and hypercoil make good springs too.

Yup, I found some Eibach and Hypercoils for about $240 for a set of 4. Trying to save everywhere I can so still looking around for the best prices.

I don't plan to be *that* low. 12- 12.5''

Would it be safe to say... run 7'' front and rear in a 450/700?

7" is a safe bet. A lot of people are running that length spring front and rear, myself included.
12-12.5 is a good height.

What is the purpose of going with a shorter spring? Just so you can go lower in the front?

Less weight and you can go lower if that matters. With my FCM threaded perches and 7" 400lb springs I can very easily go lower than 12" (even though I only ride a bit less than 12.25" in the front).

When I revalve I will most likely go to a 500lb-550lb 6" spring if I can find one.
(pitstopusa.com has a bunch of different springs there for decent prices) I'm using QA1's that were $36 each also.

I'm not sure how he cant find them...

Coil Over Springs - SummitRacing.com

I'm running 7" QA1 springs at 550/300. Barely able to get low enough on my koni, but I have my sleeves resting on my perches. With the correct sleeves, they actually extend down further past the circlip. And most only have one spanner that locks, so this helps. So you shouldn't have trouble..especially if you add NB or iscracing tophats which lower the spring further.

I'll be running a 8" 400 lb. front spring in a few weeks. With NB tophats and all other things being equal I should actually be a touch lower.

700/325, but that 700/400 would be a better setup.

ISC or 99 hats might lower you a touch due to spring placement but the main reason to do different hats is to gain shock travel. IE if I have a 1.5 top hat than I gained 1.5" of travel or can lower my car 1.5" and still have the same ride quality.

Sorry, I mis-wrote. I can find the 7'' 450lb but can't find any 6'' springs in 700lbs.

Which is why I asked if it's OK to run both 7''.

perfectly fine and long as you keep 2 springs in front the same, and the 2 in the rear the same obviously. lol

Hypercoils will be lighter.

Sounds good. I can save a bit of $.

On a quality perspective, how to QA1's stack up VS. Hypers, Eibach etc?

The QA1s I've been running for months still look brand spankin' new. High quality coating, and no complaints on the ride or handling front.
