Correct; the CV body has different taper, which is what is interfering with the seal. As others have said, I'm glad this thread appeared when it did, as I am a few weeks away from pulling the diff, and axles in my '93 and fitting the MSM torsen set up.

You won't have the seals in your car since mazda apparently stopped putting them in in 2003. This is a "I am putting MSM axles in a pre 2003 car" issue.

Or to be clear, any 2003+ miata axles, from what I can tell from the parts fiche.

My 2002 did not have seals and I'm 99% percent sure I'm the first person to pull the knuckles off since it left the factory. I can't remember when it was was built, but I can check if anyone cares.

For what it's worth, just installed the MSM Torsen diff and axles today in my '93, leaving the bearing seals off. It went together like a hot knife thru butter, bolted and torqued up fine.
