Default Hankook RS3's. Best size to put on 16x6.5" SE wheels for autox

Just finished up an autox today...after three events, I've worn down the shitty tires that came with my car and I want to pick up some RS3's.

I want to know what your opinions are about size of the RS3's on my stock rims. I want to get the best grip possible without adding weight and messing with my speedo or anything. I'm running the alignment specs from the garage on the miata forum if that changes anything. I will also be buying a set of tokico illuminas with FM springs later on and don't want rubbing issues

A local friend who works at a tire shop suggested 225/40r16. Would I be better off with a 205/45? Please help me out as I have no idea

I would try to fit the 225. Shame they are only 6.5" wheels.

I run 205/45s on my 16x7s. and 215/45 on my 16x7.5s

Would 225/45/16's be okay to DD too? I just don't want to go out and spend $500 to find out that I made the wrong choice

225/45 is going to be a little tall. Otherwise I don't see why you couldn't DD it. But then I don't see why you could DD any sized tire...

you first said 225/40, which is it? 225/40 is close to the ideal size for a 16".

my worry would be the witdh of the rim. or lack there of.

well it appears that the rs3 doesn't come in 225/40....it looks like all the sizes offered won't be a good fit on my rims.

So I'll try to find the best tire I can in 225/40/16. Thank you for the advice brain

I literally just looking at that.

I'm hoping to get 225/40/16's or 215/45/16's cause those are the closest to stock 205/45/16's

I have my friends that work at tire kingdom checking to see what they can get (rs3, re11, r1r, *spec, xs, rt-615) in those sizes. I'll go with whatever they can get
