Default Maxxis VR-1 245/40/15

It's official. This is Maxxis entry into the hotly contested 200tw EHP tire market. We have had to keep quiet about this tire for over a year now (argh). The one pictured is a 255/40/17. They intend on releasing the 245/40/15 late 2016, so it will be a while. But holy crap this is awesome
..and, you're all very welcome

Copied off a friends fb from SEMA

No idea. They're not in production yet. A few in California have tested on other cars, S2000 and E46 I think. I wasn't privy to that data though. They don't have our sizes yet. When they do, we'll evaluate and report as always. Turns out they're aiming for a Q2/16 release for the 245/40/15. In case I had not mentioned it before..

This tire and the potential T5 conversion are the last two real obstacles in making a semi bombproof 300~350whp dual duty NA/NB that actually works. The 245/40 RC-1 fit under flat rolled, but not pulled NB fenders so I imagine these will too. Deviate (250whp K20) will so get a set of these with some tweaked fenders.

Affordable. The RC-1 is $175 so I'd guess somewhere in that 'hood.

This awesome and terrible news all at once! I just bought my third set of 15x9 6UL's because I had realized that there were no 200+ TW tires out there in 245's and now I see this.. Ugh it looks like another set will be in order. Lol

Oh,oh! It looks like they don't recommend a 10" rim for the 245/15. It falls outside of the approved rim width.

So that means there'll be a glut of used 15x9's on the market in early spring (and I can get a set of those and the 225's for cheap )

This makes me happy. I really hope they're faster than a 205 RE71R or 225 Rival-S.
