Looking for parts to convert my 90 with AC to no AC.

So i need the plastic elbow that does from the blower motor to the heater core. It the piece that replaces the Evap box on AC cars.

And it would be nice to get the non AC HVAC dash controls too.

I'll take a pic later today. This is a way the heat is routed on non AC car. ac cars ha e a huge box instead that has AC ecaportator inside. That's what those two ac pipes connect to in the eminent bay

Just pull the evap box out and remove the evaporator. It comes right out as the box is two halves clipped together. And if your evaporator is good, you can sell it.

Thanks. Apperently the part is only $25 from Mazda. So I am going to order it from the dealer. And I guess the only difference in the hvac panel is the ac button

If you'd take the thing apart, you'd realize that it's a waste of time, effort and money to use that piece that goes in there. I've done it both ways, multiple times. That part that went in the non-AC cars might save you a few ounces over the evap box stripped of the evaporator. The weight is in the evaporator core not the box.

I just want to do a clean install, that's all. I looked at taking the box apart and i would have to tape up the holes and such.

I already got all of that out. The dash is out of the car. I am sound proofing the whole cockpit.

No need to. All that's required is disconnecting the lines, removing the glove box and the two clamps. Takes a little twisting action and the evap box "falls" out.

No ****, right? He can grab a couple tampons, stuff them in the holes, then get them wet to seal 'em up.

I suppose if you have some tampons handy in your purse, then yes-- but I just used some hvac foil tape.

If you really want to do it right, you'll need a plug for the evap drain in the passenger footwell as well as the pair of plugs on the firewall to go with the evap box delete tube and the new A/C button.

Glad I read this thread. Saved me some work. V8 car will have no AC. Will I regret it later? Who knows.

I used the foil tape on the evap box holes. For the body holes, I used some rubber grommet type plugs from the hardware store.

Got the oem part orders from Mazda. 27 dollars with tax. I am going to use the gromets on the firewall and will keep the button because I can still use it to turn on the other fan.
