I have one of the NEW Everlast Tig 200DX's and love it. The new one has preflow and better pulse settings. The main advantage is the Amps are set with a dial on the front of the machine with a LED window reading instead of at the foot pedal with no LED read out. I paid $1100 for it, I think they are 12 now though. I did alot of research and the Everlast as far as I could see was by far the best for the Money. My local welding supply wanted 3400 for a Miller 185 without half the features. I would highly reccomend this machine. And by the way get the biggest bottle of argon you can afford because the gas gets ALOT cheaper as the quanity goes up. I started with a 92 size bottle I think it was and it cost $44 for each fill and didn't last very long, went to a 249 size and it cost $69 to fill and last forever.

I think i might get one of them Everlast tig machines for the house. I have the super over the top Miller at work, for anything heavy duty i could just use that. Plus the new 200DX machine has an optional water cooler (not sure if i could live without that) and 240v hookup is great. I almost want to get it just to see how it compares to some of the best, because that's all ive ever used.

Thats where I use mine. I've used the Lincolns and Millers and this one well weld with either one of the same amp rating. To get all the features on either of the others, you would spend 4 times the money. I didn't get the water cooling as I didn't want the hassle of all the extra stuff to hook up , nor do I need it as most of my welding is on my Miata or light duty. If I was going to be welding heavy medal, especially aluminum I would get the water cooling. Great unit and Customer service, they sent me one of the out going models with the amp control **** on the foot pedal and no preflow by mistake and man they 2 day shipped the right one out and sent me a return shipping label to send the wrong one back before getting the wrong one back. Beware also the units on Ebay and Amazon for less money are the out going models. Buy from Everlastgenerators.com

I've been happy with the miller though when you try to do high amp stuff when plugged into 110 the results are poor. It lets you turn the **** up to 125 when plugged into 110, honestly anything requiring over 100 ends up coming out like crap no matter what you do. I really really need to find the time to wire my garage for the proper 220 outlet.

i just upgraded to the miller diversion 180, ran me under $1900 out the door with the dust cover.. my miller 160 was 1200 when i purchased brand new... try shopping around local, online, or other weld shops within your distance your willing to travel for a deal. might just find a floor display unit that needs to be sold sooner..

i think we should have a fabrication forum on here, similar to honda-tech. it helps from having 200 pages with welding talk mixed with people projects. Maybe have sub forums for welding and machining

I think custom fabrication doesn't mean JUST steel. So in a way, that's a good idea.

On the other hand, this thread is only 15 pages.

I would update the fab thread almost every day with pics and info, so I give a huge plus 1 to the idea of a fabrication subforum, and I know there are a few regular fellas who would get in on it too, Id love the opportunity to share and learn .

I am pretty sure I have seen you post saying you wear the big heavy leather glove from HF on your hand that holds the TIG torch just so you can rest it on hot metal.

I can not stand wearing a glove on my left hand with the filler rod.

I wear a tig glove on my right with a tig finger if I need to rest my hand for support, works great, nothing on the left. They say the glove is not only for heat but for radiation protection, so I wear one.
