I've obviously seen that

With them asking 4 times the price of a standard MS3 daughterboard, and double the cost of a DIY MS3x, you think they'd take the time to explain the benefits more.

I still don't know why MS3pro is better, other than input filtering (not listed on that page) and that' it's potentially housed in smaller enclosure. What does MS3 pro do that MS3x does not?

If anyone is interested in fitting an MS3 inside the stock ECU housing, we do have a model for that (which is mostly aimed at street-class racers). There's a catch though - it will only control what is needed to actually run the engine and the ancillaries (A/C, alternator, etc), plus boost control and VVT control, nothing else. Ie no spare digital inputs, outputs, etc.

Short version - we went over the entire schematics looking for ways to improve the circuits, and if we could find a way to make it better, we added it. If you tried to build all the MS3-Pro's improvements starting with an MS3 V3.0 kit, the only parts left on the V3.0 board would be the analog inputs (with a few different component values and a couple of extra parts hot glued to the board) and the RS232 connection. Everything else, including the power supply, would be completely redone. And you'd have to make some changes to the MS3 daughter card as well to pull off some changes to the USB communications.

Beyond the VR conditioners and the more noise resistant power supply, most of the changes focused on making it a more robust and more noise resistant design. For example, the USB circuit is now isolated from the ECU's 5V power plane and ground, making it far better able to handle things like ground offsets between your computer and your ECU wiring. There isn't any drastically new features in there (unless you count the MAX9926) so much as a bunch of little incremental changes everywhere.

Some people get what we did with the MS3-Pro and say it's exactly what they've been asking for. Others have reacted with, "Meh, it's not worth it for me over the original MS3." We've got both options covered.

Ok guys, the boards have arrived and are a bit cheaper than expected.
I didn't have to pay VAT and import duties (33%!), so they're $49 each instead of $69.
Send me a PM if you want one.

Just to add that I needed a 99-05 board myself, so I have had a batch made for these years as well.
See here for more info on the 99-05 NB version

Gonna give myself a shameful bump because I had 5-6 people asking me to make the NB version. Now that I have, only 2 out of 5 actually bought it.
Any takers?

I have been working with a buddy of mine getting one of these boards and a MS3 Pro module installed in his racecar and I can say that we have been given GREAT customer service and it is making any issues we may encounter easy to diagnose and correct. I would NOT hesitate to buy another board from him. Top notch service! Thanks again!

After the holidays, I am going to order one of these boards myself!

I also only can recommend Frank and encourage everyone who is interested to buy such a board - it's a great piece of hardware.

Just recently I rewired all the spare in/outputs (WB, Boost, oilpressure, oiltem) through the spare pins of the OEM wiring - so I got a completely stock looking ECU. Nice, just nice...

I have no confidence if this is what I need, but it looks like it could be. I have a '99 engine going into a '94 car that I want to supercharge and keep AC. Keeping things looking stock is a big plus. I guess one thing I don't know is if I have any need for the additional ouputs that would be lost with this add-on board? Would this board be able to run coil on plug ignition?

I can't say if this is what you need, that all depends on how you're going to do the wiring. You don't loose any outputs and you can run coil on plug.

There will be some wiring issues to work out but I think his best option is to route the 99 cam & crank signals, idle valve etc through the corresponding 94 wires and use a 94-95 ecu so he can keep the 94 connectors. A couple of other things, like VICS, will have to be rerouted to unused pins in and rerouted internally.

I'm looking for the BOB adapter board for a 99 miata. dIYAutotune has them for 100$ but I was hoping to find one cheaper. Any ideas?

Since Braineack is using my boards in his builds, I have them back in stock for all NA and NB (including MSM).
I only have the bare boards, not doing any assembly, contact Brain's for a completely assembled board (with firmware loaded etc).
Bare board is $35. Contact me via PM if you want one. Full assembly instructions included.

This is an example of a completed board for a 96-97. For basic operation only Tyco connector, headers, 2 resistors, USB connector and map sensor required (optional Baro sensor also installed here).
Boards can now be fitted with my Wifi modules as well as my Bluetooth modules (not at the same time obviously).
