Nitrous setup looks great. Ive always been a fan of using those nylon lines with ferrules. Also, those distribution blocks look like they will actually give good equal distribution unlike those little blocks that make the nitrous make 90 degree turns.

Steam powered electric generator. And the timing is controlled by a series of pulleys and weights that detect load by acceleration forces effecting a ball moving through a curved tube of viscous fluid. It's state of the art for turn of the century internal combustion locomotives but it is well suited to competition horseless carriages utilizing nitrous well into the 1910's.

I was thinking more like a centrifugal govenor, but instead using its linkage to advance the distributor

Perfectly atomized compressed fuel, instantly in the combustion chamber at the moment of ignition, already lit. You just need to get the orientation of the tank and each cylinder to the ECU exactly right, then account for any engine movement
