True, but the cost of making a billet head for the BP engine would be way to expensive for 99% of miata owners, and personally i would drop in a k-engine instead.
But with some machining, porting and re shaping my BP head came out with over 260 cfm at 12.5mm lift.
A K-engine head gets close to 400 cfm from the same tuner that ported my BP head.
A billet BP head at those flow numbers would be magical, but the cost would be astronomical.

So after talking to the machine operator we reshaped the outside of the collector to make easier and faster to machine.
this is the final rendering and the part will be made in to stages, first in the lathe, then in the milling machine.
It's made to fit with 44.5mm outside dia tubing with 2mm wall thickness.
The manifold will be made with 321 stainless tubes, the collector and engine flange will be made in 304 stainless.

2mm wall thickness sounds thin for a BP but what do I know?

If i was going to use 304 or 316 piping, then yes, it would be too thin, then i would use 3mm.
But 321 is much stronger and can take more heat and vibrations.

Been busy with some other cars the last weeks, but have finally had time for the miata again.
Got the bends for the end tanks and welded everything up.
So the intercooler is now done, i also put in a flow divider on the hot side of the intercooler.

Looks great. But why offset hotside when you have room for center in/out?

Because i need the room over the ic tube on the hotside for a 3 inch cold air intake tube for the air filter box i'm going to make in the engine bay.
It will get a 3 inch tube from the other side also, so it's basically just placement to getting cold air to everything .

So i got the new side skirts for the miata.
China copy RE-amemiya AD-GT side skirts for rx7 fd.
Shortened them and roughly cut them to see if the lines would match.
They really don't fit as god as they look on the pictures. But with enough modification i think they will look god in the end.

Thank you, yes that was the idea, if it was a pure race car i would go wilder, but it will be used on the street as well.

Got started on the ducting for the radiator and intercooler.
I'm still waiting for the funnels for the cold air intake for the air filter box, they will be welded in the sides of the intercooler ducting.
I also have to make room in the radiator ducting for the original hood latch before i'm done.

Seeing my shitty riveted plastic ducts around my intercooler/radiator vs your shiny and clean welded ducts makes me jealous. I wanted to make something like that around my intercooler but I lacked the fabrication skills and I was too cowardly to cut away the front frame.

But seriously your car looks awesome. It's what mine would be like if I were better at cars.
