Ah.. Now I see why you were asking me about that motor Forrest.
This.
Your current setup only goes till 230 or so. Run that with the built engine and worry about the damper when you have a better turbo setup and are ready to dial it up. You can run a new setup for a bit at lower power if you can't get the damper right away.
You also don't have a six speed right? So that's another thing you're going to need.

So the plan is either throw a BE pump in for 400$ and get vvt or ms3 for roughly 200$. Run the 50 trim at what? full tilt or under 15-16 psi? It seems colipto tapped it out at around 230 ft/lbs, which is under the stock rod limit.
Or I budgeted
400$ for a be pump
200$ for EMS upgrade of some sort (either VVT tuner or ms3)
300$ for ebay rods and arp hardware
150$ for arp head studs (necessary?)
200$ for bearings/gaskets/ misc ****
That puts me at 1250$ for a semi built vvt engine, 1500$ if you count the motor
The kicker is that the motor has 80k
I would like to max out the 50 trim but would the built motor be necessary? Both sonofthehill and colipto said they liked the smaller turbo over the bigger super 60
