I have seen 'extenders used, in conjunction with rod ends rather than ball joints, to lower the tie rods to horizontal. No idea how good (or bad) that is.

Did you end up cutting down those fittings for the MK60 ABS?

flier129 05-03-2022 10:56 AM

I don't think this is "just another FP build" holy shit :bowrofl:

Yeah, cut a thread or two out of them and they snug up just fine. Double washers would have yielded the same result, but blake offered to have them cut down and I took advantage.

I love this build. Thank you for continuing to share.

You cant hide money. Lots of great stuff going on here and I'm diggin' it. Great work

Thanks guys, I’d be lying if there wasn’t a bit of scope creep in this project. More than a couple items had a buy once cry once mindset.

in other news, I has brake lines.

There is one fuse in the entire car and it is for the electric power steering. All other power distribution/management is done by the ecu digitally through the PDM. The nexus eliminates the need for fuses/relays.

The PDM is pretty neat stuff, you can set the ecu to turn items off after so many trips in a timeframe, length of fault, etc. That information can be sent to the dash notifying you of the issue. Makes for a much cleaner install.

you are an asshole, now i feel even poorer and even more jealous :)

sick build bro.

Got it started last night. Still having some hydraulic issues. For the life of us could not get the mk60 abs nor the hydraulic throwout bearing to bleed. Rather than continue to bump our heads against the wall I pull it on the trailer to regroup. Have to be missing something in the bleeding process for both.

Alejo_NIN 05-17-2022 08:12 AM

nice, so nerve-wracking to kneel down and look in the hopes nothing is leaking!

maco Motorsports out of aus makes the hood. Took a bit to get here.

the switch panel is a haltech setup, ordered through Blake at bluegrass race electronics.

OP, following your build closely, I just put a PDM in a Miata, not nearly the attention to detail this has, looks great, keep it up.

For the most PNP application, you'll want a Blink Marine keypad, sold by AIM or Blink Marine. AIM has a standard protocol in their calibration software for either a 8 button or 12 button keypad. I've done 12 buttons on the 2 PDMs I've installed, which is great for setup, but honestly once you're finished wiring and programming, you can let the ECU or other sensors turn on power outputs. Like using GPS speed to activate ABS, cooler pumps, etc.
