@mr20turbo Thanks for the info on where you got the parts. Much appreciated!

@curly Thanks for the info on the keypad...especially on 8 vs 12 button. That's very useful info to turn on items based upon programing. I didn't think about that possibility.

This thing starts, stops, and is aligned now…IC pipes and a tune away from being at a race rack near you…

we did. apparently stepping away from it for a day solves all problems. brakes work. bleeder valve for the clutch was mounted upside down and caused some problems. fixed that and all is well.

Say what?!

How do you get to mount a clutch bleeder valve upside down? :dunno:

step 1, have a hydraulic throw out bearing and not a slave

step 2. Find out mounting it in this orientation likes to trap air.

Gee Emm 05-23-2022 08:47 PM

Yes, that might do it.

I have thought about a similar bleed arrangement for the stock slave, but never got around to it for lack of need. But that is something to bear in mind if/when I do move on it. Thanks for the warning.

Not really a car update, it is still at the shop getting the exhaust/intercooler pipes built.

Getting it on the trailer was a bit of a chore with the twin disc. Decided winching would make that process a bit easier and decided to start making provisions. Solar panel and battery installed today, I’ll tackle the winch tomorrow. It is too hot in the sun/on the aluminum trailer to spend much time on it.

Slow going. Car has been getting the exhaust/ic pipes built. Talked to them today and should have it back in my hands by the end of the week.

ESR ballast system painted and ready to install. I have 150 lbs of plates, need to get it on the scales and see how close that gets me to my minimum weight.

Got around to ordering tires. Good news is they JUST clear my machine when mounting.

Progress! Couple odds and ends to button up and this thing will be on the rollers.

Made, but not by me. I do not posses skill with a tig. IC Pipes and Exhaust were built by Bluegrass Muffler and Brakes in Louisville.

I got the car back in my hands last night with the goal of installing a catch can and running some vacuum lines. Things did not go as planned. When I picked up the car there was about a 1/4 quart of oil in the floor plan from the accusump. Not great. After some reading and troubleshooting I came to the conclusion that I had a slow leak on the air side. Must have locked up and hit the pressure relief valve. Pulled some fittings, taped them back up, and it has held pressure fine for the day.

Noticed a nice puddle of oil under the front of the car that wasn't there before. Interesting. The accusump was full, as verified by the dipstick. Get it up on the quickjacks and it is coming from the front of the motor. Damn.

Pull the covers and it is the front main seal. It is the first time I have run the engine long enough to get any heat into it. blah. I have the front of the motor off and a seal on order.

During my side quest I did manage to get some of the original plan knocked out. Catch can is mounted.

Drilled and taped the intake for the BOV line

Not really the day I had planned.

Alejo_NIN 07-17-2022 02:48 AM

Dude. That’s great. You did what you needed and still managed to find issues and fix them all. That’s a great day IMO.

what seals did you end up getting?
i heard anything but OEM would do this kind of thing.
I have felpro
what sucks is that once it leaks your whole bottom end up with a nasty film of oil
time to get the pressure washer out.

goodnkuck! And those issues are minor.
wait till the rear main seal leaks. That one sucks.

I got antsy and found a felpro at one of the parts stores. Printing the install tool now. Hope to start piecing it back together this evening.

Alejo_NIN 07-18-2022 11:26 AM

Felpro is good quality, never had an issue before.
its the other DNJ Chinese crap that scares me...hehhe

mr20turbo 07-22-2022 06:30 PM

Started it yesterday and there weren’t any funny noises. I’ll get water in it this weekend and get it back up to temp/see if the new seal took care of my problems. Accusump still holding pressure so I know I solved the air leak it had.

built most of the lines for the catch can. It need a tight radius 90 to finish the last line up and that project is done. Moved a bunch of fittings around and ran the vacuum lines. One more fitting for the compressor and I am done there.

here is to hoping when it warms up I’m not pulling all my recent work back off :)

Front main installed, got it warm and no leaks.

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...423f810e1.jpeg

Belts are in, ballast mount is in, and the stock ebrake is removed. I sat in the car with a helmet for the first time in a while and the seat was a tad high. Wrestled with it a bit longer and got it lower. I’ll run it like this and see if I need it lower. Doing so would require different mounts.

You know you are getting closer when you start focusing on contingency stickers.
