do you have launch control enabled? that's a good way to just sit there and test what settings work best for a faster limiter.

I ran VEAL tonight briefly. here are some logs if someone could take a look see ?

I don't see any issues offhand.

So this is cutting 3 sparks out of 5?

In my case I think it is 3 injection pulses out of 5. I would try 2 out of 5 next if it was too harsh, but I'm not finding it to be too unsettling on the track.

Your datalogs didn't show any runs up to around 7000 rpm. I'm curious what your duty cycle is at WOT around 7000 rpm.

No i don't have it set up yet i haven't even wired it in.

I tried to keep away from 7000 but i can do one later on and post it. In anything above 1st gear i hit my boost cut (110Kpa) at 4-5000 RPM

by being careful on the throttle i managed a few runs of 7k rpm.. here are two logs. this was after about twenty minutes of tuning with VEAL.

Why is your MAT reading around -17 to -20 degrees Celsius?

And yes, you are completely out of injector capacity until your other ones come in.

I dont know! i hadn't noticed that.. what would cause that? Is it down to my IAT sensor? I have the IAT sensor plugged into the connections for the Air Flow Meter, have i got the polarities mixed up? it is only 4 degrees Celsius here at the moment so it might explain the figure but the polarity is a tad strange!

Edit - I forgot to calibrate my IAT sensor... oops

timk 02-23-2013 08:22 AM

Polarity doesn't matter BTW.

ok, it must be something else somewhere! i calibrated and its reading odd numbers still.. could i really be getting air less that 10 degrees?

heres a log i did on the way home from work. i tried to mix my driving..

another thing i noticed is when i leave off the accelerator the guage goes lean? could that be to do with my target AFR table only going as low as 29 kPa? (when i leave off the MAP says 15 to 16 kPa)

Edit - ill have to upload later this computer is slow

rhysmate 02-23-2013 10:58 AM

so if i unplug the sensor the gauge in TS reads 21 celsius!

rhysmate 02-24-2013 04:13 PM

Any ideas on why I'm reading weird on my MAT sensor? Also, im still going lean when I leave off the accelerator in higher revs.. is this bad?

You are supposed to go lean when you release the throttle. Mine cuts all of the fuel off when the throttle is released at medium to high RPMs, and factory ECUs do that also. It is called fuel cut on overrun and can be set up in TunerStudio.

Here's mine:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1361747444

It gives you better fuel economy because you don't need to waste fuel when you aren't trying to make horsepower at that point.

sixshooter 02-24-2013 06:18 PM

I didn't know you could use the air fuel meter to measure MAT. And I don't think that will work with a turbo anyway because you need to attain a temperature reading from a source after the turbo and after the intercooler. Most people use a GM IAT sensor after the intercooler and somewhere not right behind the radiator. You can drill a hole in the intercooler piping and add it anywhere convenient.

rhysmate 02-24-2013 06:23 PM

I see that makes sense! I just didn't like seeing a lean reading.. thanks a lot for all the help so far.. I wouldn't have had the confidence to try this tuning by myself or without some guidance. Its a lot of fun..

I have an IAT sensor that's threaded into the imtercooler piping near the throttle body. .. i wired it following the megasquirt fitting guide which uses the air flow meter connectors. I dont have an air flow ,eter anymore. when I unplug the sensor I get a reading of around 21 degrees, but with the sensor in I get really low and even negative readings? I have a GM sensor from diyautotune and I calibrated it using the resistances that were in the setup manual. And I did it with the car cold

rhysmate 02-25-2013 06:00 PM

Ok, i went and fitted some 295cc injectors and mapped it to 145kpa. then my duty cycle sits at 85%. but my god am i happy.. here's a log. ill be upping boost to 10psi when my 460 cc injectors arrive next week.

If you could look at my msq and see what my MAT issue could be that'd be awesome!

jimmyneutron 02-26-2013 03:37 AM

good looking build! get some bigger injectors you will like moar boost!

sixshooter 02-26-2013 01:35 PM

I'm trying to determine the incorrect MAT reading problem. I don't know enough to know if any of this is an issue:

I have no experience with any of that.. Maybe braineak.can chime in?
