So suicide by Exocet? I can't imagine your power plant at 1500lbs...scary scay scary.

So what size EFR did you sell him?

I'm looking forward to the Exocet build haha

@erat, you'll just have to wait until it shows up to find out. Shouldn't be much longer

So a little bit of an update.

Finally found a Tii diff, unfortunately it is an s5 diff rather than an s4 so it is not the clutch type LSD. Oh well, I wanted to get the mounts fabbed up and didn't want to wait around anymore. I'll still try to find an s4 diff and then this diff will become a spare.

Diff is now mounted in the car, next is installing the hubs I got today from MonsterMiata since MiataRoadster stopped making them. I also need to take measurements and have a driveshaft built.

New miata rear hubs broached to fit rx7 axles

And finally, here it is! Visited Bryan at fab9 today to pick up my turbo. Decided to go with an EFR 7163 vband. Originally was going to go twin scroll but decided to go with the single scroll vband. So pretty!

Work should begin on the manifold in the next week or two!

Been kind of quiet around here. Been waiting on progress on the manifold and DP before ordering too many more things but then I got impatient.

Ordered all the engine things:

- Wiseco 83.5mm 8.5:1 Pistons
- Manley Forged H-beam Rods
- ARP head studs
- ARP main studs
- ATI Harmonic Balancer
- ACL RACE bearings
- Cometic MLS Headgasket
- Boundary Engineering Street Oil Pump 2 shims
- Supertech Intake Valves
- Supertech Exhaust Valves
- Supertech Dual Valve Spring Kit 63lbs
- Supertech Valve Seal Set
- Gaskets - Oil Pan, Crankshaft + Front Seal, Rear Main
- Gates Complete Water Pump + Racing Timing Component Kit

Finally made it out to do some work on the car last weekend.

Made the cuts to fit the Stage 2 Fab9Tuning intercooler and mocked that up. The pulled the rear hubs, just waiting on my wheel bearings to come in before putting the new hubs back in.

Incredible progress! I'm definitely in to see how this gets sorted out. You went full baller on us with the 7163.

Thanks guys! I'm a little nervous about driving a Miata with however much power it'll make with the 7163 but really looking forward to it at the same time. Only problem is I can't go for all the power ever because no E85. Limited to pump gas and meth.

Nothing much new. Got the hubs swapped out so I can install my axles and see what needs to be modified on the exhaust to make that fit.

I want to have the engine at the machine shop in the next week or two.

I couldn't find any pics online of the cuts that were needed to fit the stage 2 intercooler from Fab9 so I took these to give people an idea. Not the prettiest cuts but they'll do.

Got word that things are actually happening for the manifold now so that's kind of exciting. After the manifold and downpipe are built the car can finally come closer to home where I can actually make some progress on putting things together.

You don't have e85 over there? That blows.

If you ever want to put an e85 tune on for whatever reason we have plenty of it here.

As soon as the first e85 pump is in windsor I'll look at tuning for e85, until then I'll just deal with pump gas.

Although having e85 for those nights on Woodward could be fun I don't think it's worth the hassle until I'm able to get it locally too.

Couple more small updates, just finishing up some loose ends while waiting for progress on my manifold and motor. Just waiting on the EFR vband flange to show up for the manifold build to start and last I heard the machine work was completed on the block earlier this week, hoping for that to be done in a few weeks so assembly on the rest of the car can start.

Cuts made in the transmission tunnel for the TII shifter to fit because of the longer transmission.

Someone brought up that the mounts on just the bottom side of the car for the transmission might not be strong enough, so with the entire theme of this build and overdoing everything we went back and added bolt on plates from the top side to give it a bit more strength. The original mounts probably would have been fine but while we're in there may as well do this as well. Doesn't hurt.

Then there was an issue with the starter. The way it mounted to the adapter plate meant that the trans would need to be removed to change the starter in case it ever failed. Rather than dealing with that a helicoil was added to the adapter plate to allow for easy r&r of the starter.

All together again

Then the power steering delete on the rack was cleaned up. I did it really ghetto last time since it was a last minute thing when I was putting the car together and I just had the lines crimped and twisted. Not like anyone will ever see this but its a bit cleaner

Mock up motor back in the car for manifold fab

New hubs were installed with the axles. Pretty tight squeeze with the bigger axles so the exhaust is definitely going to have to be modified.

And a little teaser of things to come.. Hello stainless steel sexiness

Had my Squaretop manifold inlet matched up to the bigger skunk2 throttle body.

Picked up some more things today.

Custom clutch kit from clutchnet.com to work with my TII transmission. Rated for 500ft/lb of torque.

Intercooler piping from Vlad. I was an idiot and just looked at the picture really quickly on mobile when buying it and didn't realize they were black. Oh well, I'll make it work.

Met up with Bryan from Fab9 again for a few more parts before putting in another bigger order in the next few weeks.

Some exciting things should be happening in the next week or two. The vband flange for the manifold showed up today so that will start to be built tomorrow morning. The block is assembled, and head work including port and polish should be started this week, just had to wait on the machine shop to get the tooling to do the +2mm valves. Hoping for the engine and hot side to be done in the next 2 weeks.

I thought they were just shiny aluminum haha

Basically. They made the clutch disk the diameter of a miata clutch with the spline of a tii transmission (23x1). Actually pretty affordable, especially with that torque capacity. It was supposed to be a two week turnaround but they kept putting it off and delaying the shipping so it turned into a 1-2 month wait.
