I need help figuring out what I did to my engine last. If you dont know by now, here is the short version:
Took the car out, the alternator belt snapped, when I got home temps were 240* (MS) and there's a smudge of oil/grease in the front of the engine.
So, WTF? where could the oil be coming from? all I could think of is that Im leaking from the cam seal; I have a minor water leak just above the alternator belt, which 1. cause it to break and 2. all that splattered oil/water all over the front of the engine.
Halp!

I reused the hose in the front that connects the neck sticking out of the head to the IM. I noticed yesterday that I didn't secure it enough. I'll get a new hose, and make sure is secured. That is the only source of water around that area. Also there are no visible leaks of oil or water anywhere else in the in the engine area.
Other than, how bad is 240* temp? note that it was stationary for the few minutes it took me to talk my way out of a ticket.
I think I also need a restrictor for the turbo.

When the fans come on did the temperature drop any? If the needle was in the middle still and did not go past 12o'clock I think you will be fine. What radiator are you running? Did you bleed the system properly? IE have the front jacked up as high a s you can with the cap off?

Basically the jacking up the front gets rid of air bubbles that get stuck in the back of the engine.

Fans are set to 180*. The belt snapped as right before the cop pulled me over. I talked for about 2-3 minutes or so. then I drove the car about 100 meters to my house. At that moment the temps read 240*
