Hook up some air and pressurize your intake track. That will make a leak quite obvious and may save you a bunch of time.

No I didn't, I thought you may have a compressor that doesn't need an outlet or something you could hook up to a car battery.

It is pretty sad that your car will be back up and running before mine, but I still look forward to seeing it going again.

My dad has a tank I could borrow... but it would be cheaper (gas) and less time for me to just tear into the damn thing.

OK This has to be the one of the BIGGEST FAILS I have made on the miata to date.

So I took the Intake Mani off today, and I was in fact using the 99-00 gasket. Beyond that, when I installed the injectors I noticed that they were interfering with the gasket, rather than stopping to think why...I simply cut what I thought was "unneeded" metal to install the gaskets, thinking that maybe it was just some crappy non-oem design.

Epic Epic fail. I think I was smoking crack when I did that. Look what that "unneeded" metal was...

Almost didn't post this I am so embarrassed lol.

LOL...

We all mess up. Now you will know that when something doesnt work you should look into why before trying to make it work.

Its only through embarrassment that some people learn. At least it was a simple fix.

LOL. 2k dollar motor, full tard IM install. Kidding of course, I seriously wish I was in the position to do a engine build like this. Definitely can't wait to see some completed videos of your sexy car.

Replaced the gasket and slave cylinder today.

The engine runs well and drives well. I have a small oil leak I need to sort out tomorrow, and my lifters are making tons of noise. I am going to pop the valve cover off tomorrow and check to see which lifters aren't pumped up. I'll pull the cam off if I have to and take apart the lifters.

Miata is back on the road. I pulled the motor to fix the oil pan leak... unsuccessfully. The stupid oil baffle plate must have a burr on it or something. I cleaned all surfaces and used permatex "the right stuff". Never had a leak with that stuff before this. I will pull the motor again in the spring when I powder coat the control arms and do poly bushings. For now I will live with a minor leak.

My HLA's still aren't fully pumped...but they are getting better. They are all making full contact with the cam at dwell. . . just soft i guess.

I am going to put miles on the car this week and see how everything holds up. Hopefully I will feel good enough to autox it next weekend.
