Got this thing painted. Felt the blue was too "look at me" and went with PSL silver.

Ahhhh I miss my S2k sometimes. I had a silver AP1 with a 3076R fun car that was.

sonofthehill 07-30-2020 03:08 AM

I saw the slowest S2K tonight, ran a 15 or something. I love those things!

What's up with the rear bumper behind the wheel if you just got it painted?

concealer404 07-30-2020 09:10 AM

Good catch. I'll have to bring it to their attention, that wasn't there before. Might be from having the mudflaps removed?

NB looks good!

The S2K, not sure. It almost like it scraped against something before completely dry.

concealer404 07-30-2020 09:59 AM

S2K wasn't painted lol. Bad joke that i repainted the NB and now it's silver. Not real sure what i'm going to do with the NB. The S2000 is better at everything other than outright handling response, but that's more a function of weight and less modifications.

Midtenn 07-30-2020 11:32 AM

ooooooh I get it

Fireindc 08-01-2020 04:21 PM

Sweet s2k, I can dig it. Definitely no substitute for a miata though!

concealer404 08-01-2020 04:27 PM

Big disagree.

andyfloyd 08-01-2020 11:05 PM

I love the s2k, but that car will bite you with snap oversteer, I like my NB more than my AP1 and the AP1 made 500whp. Stock for stock the AP1 is definitely more fun because you rev to 9k and make vtec noises and stuff.

I use it to get groceries I'm not worried about oversteer. It's less tail happy than my NB anyways.

Suspension: Ohlins w/ Karcepts top hats, SakeBomb huge front sway bar, tiny NC bar in rear, square 255/40 setup.

It's an extremely "friendly" car.

The NB will step out and you can control it. S2k has its own mind and it does what it wants lol. They don't get really tail happy until it just comes around on you and then you're all fused about the situation.

But honestly they are both great cars. 2 seater ,rwd, vert. Check. F20C might be one of the best 4 cylinder engines ever made also.

I did a lot of work to this car to make it not do those things. I've had this car over a year now, I'm pretty familiar with it and both of my NBs.

That explains it! Totally kidding man. I've seen a few of them at the track, in most cases a basically stock s2k is as capable as my NA (with much higher power/weight and a lot of work done), but watching people control them on the track looks scary.

Last time attack I came around the last corner (by the paddock), it's a long straight over a crest into a corner, and I have a bad habit of upsetting the car into that corner. I threw it into a nice 3rd gear slide all the way through, when I got back after my hot laps one dude with an S2k commented about how shitted I must have felt, and I wasn't even sure what he was talking about. He was like, that last corner dude! That was insane! The miata chassis is just so balanced and easy to use, ya know, just steer it with the throttle and it's second nature. Granted, mines far from stock as well.

That said, the s2k is sex and I love it. Sounds like you've gotten yours setup to be a little more friendly. I noticed Quinn, (the slip angle on youtube) has his setup pretty neutral as well, which was one of the first times I've seen one setup to my liking.

Just to make sure i'm reading this right: You're annoyed because i don't think my S2000 with a tendency towards slight understeer is an oversteering deathbox that'll throw my wife in the ditch on her way to her salon?

Sure, i may feel differently on track, too. But this car is unlikely to be used for anything but commuting or errands in my ownership anytime soon. We're really just using it as a DINK Civic. I thought i was going to need a commuter last year when i was job shopping and remembered thinking these cars were ridiculously rad when i last drove one in about 2009 when i couldn't afford one. Now i can afford one and because i'm older, it's a lot less rad than it was back then. But, it gets 33-34mpg highway and i think i can get it quiet enough to be comfortably enough for long trips. Good enough. :)
