You'll probably be fine in B, it sounds like you have the seat time to go with it and they've cracked down on the shenanigans in B over the last couple years.

Not sure. I think you could do most of the appearance with a rotated set from Rev. I think there is one warning light missing on the JDM unit - abs maybe? I've been trying to light it up on my bench and finally discovered the battery I had charged overnight had not in fact charged.

Made some splitter progress today. Starting material was 5'x5' 3/8 baltic birch plywood from Mr Plywood.

Mocked it up under the car again, then went to the hardware store to get longer bolts to mount it in the back to the undertray bolt holes. Once that's solidly affixed I'll trace out the front cuts and do miscellaneous trimming and whatnot. Then to figure out the actual attachment hardware.

Note: the ATI superdamper has a 145mm outer pulley - stock is 135mm. Gates has no belt for this combination but I found one at NAPA.

The ATI Super Damper
 

KOISTFMLO: (Kind Of Important Stuff That FM Left Out):

The ATI Super Damper that they "developed in conjuction with ATI!" is not an exact replacement for the stock damper. The outer pulley, instead of being 135mm as stock, is 145mm - the same as the alternator pulley. They do mumble something in the ATI Super Damper description about "not all accessory belts may be compatible with this damper. But, all of the ones we have tried have been."

THE FUCKING DIAMETER IS DIFFERENT - JUST LIST IT. Jesus. Sometimes FM makes me want to do a serious workout with a punching bag. They don't make the horrendous mistakes that BEGI sometimes makes, but this is simply dumb.

This matters to me because of the Brotrex, obviously. Stock with AC, I used a 51.7" gates kevlar belt. Remove the AC, and I could use a Gates 47" Kevlar belt. Change that pulley size without AC, and I can use ... no belt that Gates makes. So it's rubber belts for me. I found a Dayco 49" one that should work that Napa has an equivalent for.

And this changes my brotrex gearing - before, at 7800 RPM, I was going to hit the rotrex redline of 120k. Now, with my 80mm pulley, at 7800 RPM the rotrex will be doing 137k So it's back to the 88mm pulley for me. The wastegate-on-the-back-of-the-intake-manifold may be sooner in my future than expected.

Josh is coming over tomorrow and shit is going to get done. I may get up at 4 to get ready. Need to get the car back on the ground and out of the garage, get the hoist put together, install clutch/trans/header, drop into car.

I hope to drive the car Friday. We'll see.

Take a look and see if they make the Goodyear Gatorback in a size that works for you. That was the best belt I found after the Gates Blue. Sucks man, sorry for the unexpected.

Why did you go with the ATI over the Supermiata? Brotrex?

wider range of dampening rather than a static targeted rpm range. Both are good, just mostly a preference whether or not you choose SM or ATI. I chose ATI myself mostly due to how long they have been making them and generally universal approval of them. There just wasn't enough data behind the SM damper for me to plunk money on it(and it wasn't ever in stock).

Well for me it was existence of MS3 ignition settings for FM's 36-2t wheel vs none for any Supermiata wheel other than stock 4t. I want the higher spark resolution.

But had I known about the pulley diameter differences I would have gone Supermiata and just run the 4t until an ignition profile was released for the 36-1.

Meh whatever ... car will run and should not explode.

That's why I ended up buying the SM. I'm not a smart man and 4T is easy. As soon as code comes out for the other SM wheels, I'm all in.

Several hours were then spent on the miscellaneous little things that take time. It took us a while to route the crank sensor in such a way there was no belt interference, but we figured it out.

We hooked up the MS3 and Curly ran me through the "5 minutes I gotta go eat dinner with my wife here's Tuner Studio" training session. I is master now!

Yank then arrived as Curly left and some more progress was made. Mostly in beer consumption, but he got the heater hoses installed while I got the car back into the air inside the garage so the remaining undercar work can be finished.

At this point all gauges / sensors / actuators are alive and functioning properly. Heater hoses are connected. Need to properly torque up the PPF, find a proper radiator hose, connect the fuel rail, then fluids can be installed and cranking can occur. Also need to completely disconnect the rear O2 sensor and get it out of there.

Kinda disappointed. I thought Curly was old.

Tons of progress for one day. I had no idea the engine started on a stand when i got there after 6. Kinda makes me wish i was there for the whole process. ..including this bottomless keg you speak of. ;)

Wish I coulda been there, do you need the gates hose part #? Fits really well for the reroute

Sadly, the bottomless keg was met by the unstoppable force of Mobius AND curly drinking simultaneously.

Easiest transmission install ever btw. First lift ftw.

He's also exaggerating. He's an oil fill away from first crank, then plugs away from first start. Don't need coolant really for a brief idle.
