Can the VVT fuel rail work on the 99 plenum with a 1994 fuel pressure regulator? I thought I had a 99 rail, but it turns out it from my 1.6 for whatever reason.

I just used this to get an idea of injector size and if I want 150whp is says I'll need a 310cc injector...is that right? That seems like a ton of fuel for a low output number.

Hustler, I remember several threads where people switched to COPs on the factory ECU with no resistors or anything and ran fine YMMV.

The VVT valve cover will not let us use Toyota COPs.

The 01+ fuel rail will not work. It has the flange for the FPR on the bottom and with an NA FPR installed it hits ---- somewhere. I forget what exactly hits and where, as it has been 2+ years since I tried. Below are pictures of a 99 fuel rail with the flange on the end. It still currently has the stock 99 FPR installed. You just unbolt it and install the other FPR and it will work. I will try to get pictures of how mine looks on my car tomorrow if I get home while it is still light out.

Question:
I have a VVT engine...What should I do about intake plenums and throttle bodies?
I have a 2001 plenum with IAC and t-body
I have a 1999 plenum with no IAC and no t-body
I have a1994 IAC and t-body that does not work.

Right now I'm hoping I can use the 1999 plenum, 2001 T-body, and 2001 IAC valve. Tell me this is possible.

Also, what is the best route to go for a fuel rail on my 1995 car? I have a 99 fuel rail, 2001 fuel rail, and I think the best option will be to buy a dual feed. This way it will be easier to use a real fuel pressure regulator instead of jacking with that fuel damper ----.

Of those choices, I would use the 01 setup with VTCS butterflies removed. Clean it up a bit with a die grinder if you have one or a dremel if you don't.

Works, but the VVT cam will stay at full retard. Idle and high end will be ok, but it will feel like a dog down low.

It will with minimal effort.

What exactly is your plan for 150whp, IE what are you planning on doing to pick up 40whp?

He is hustler, I am pretty sure that is worth 40whp right there.

AST stickers

Turbo kitty stickers tooo.

The NB2 injectors are good to 180ish. You don't need 315's for 150whp. Plenty of headroom with the NB 265's at 150.

93 octane, 99 plenum, RB header, air filter in front of the radiator possibly. As long as it makes 125whp on the Mustang, I'll be happy. I've gotten 122whp on a Mustang with a 9:1 and NB head. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect an increase over that number with a tick more compression. I'm most interested in the fuel economy and will possibly run the car on 87-octane for daily driving. I don't really know what to expect since I've never tuned an engine like this on the dyno. The main reason I'm doing this is because my car needs an engine and I think it will teach me something.

Unfortunately there are no injectors in this engine so I have to buy something. Anyone want to sell some stock injectors on the cheap?

I have a whole box of stock Honda B-series EV1 injectors if you can use them. I also have a couple of these in the shop:

http://www.extremepsi.com/store/prod...roductid=17652

that I can put a set of calipers on later this week if you can measure the o-ring bore on the rail you have. From a quick glance I think a 1G reg has the same mounting provisions as the Miata reg, meaning $24 gets you out of the rail to a good regulator. I may also have an extra Fuel Lab or Aeromotive reg I can sell you for cheapish.

I'm interested in the injectors, but I'm going to search for some OEMs first. I have the fuel rail situation figured out and it will work with what I have.

This wouldn't be such a big deal if I weren't dreadfully out of money. Thank you very much for helping out.

Same, stock 1.8 injectors, $10 shipped? Will go out Thursday with a couple other packages.

I've got a set of NB2 purples pulled from a running 04 no more than 2 years ago. I don't think I paid more than $20 for them. I've had this swap on my brain for a while and I'd give them up just to watch this project move forward and get documented. Visiting the post office tomorrow AM, let me know. :bigtu:

I got lazy and never looked up the 01 coil wiring. Maybe tonight I will do it for you.

Thanks.

Does anyone have a picture of what the 2001 CKP sensor and bracket should look like mounted-up? I scoured the interweb and can't seem to find a pic of it mounted, Mazdaspeed doesn't show a bracket for it. I have the sensor, but using "lego-theory" I can't figure out what it bolts to.

I will get a picture of mine mounted tonight along with how my fuel rail is.

There is no actual "bracket". Basically you put a bolt through that whole on the sensor into a hole somewhere on the oil pump.
