So I finally got off my *** and went to the track last night. I had a good solid 2 hours of driving before it started to rain a bit. I was a bit saddened that a guy with a Cayman S with R comps could get away from me in the turns and I could only keep up in the straights. Damn PSM, ABS, EBD ETC. Time to replace my old RS2s very soon and turn up the boost. Glad to report that no maintenance is required with the vbands like my old bolt/stud setup ie. replacing studs every track day.

My friend showed up in his B6 Avant when it started to rain. I think he was only able to get about 15 laps before it started raining very heavily and they shut it down. The awd drove like it was dry. His exhaust got louder by the end of it all. His turbo studs backed out and/or relaxed. I think he's going to be ordering the TSE inconel kit very soon.

Unfortunately no pics. I couldn't find my camera and my cellphone died. I've decided not to delete the heater core. I was practically crying while driving home in the rain last night because I had to have the windows open so my windows wouldn't fog up, lol

I didn't know those engines were mounted longitudinally in those audi's. I figured it was a transverse golf engine just with an AWD transfer case from the R32 or something.

 

Hehe, thanks for the compliment Nope, the engines are longitudinal, unlike the Golfs and Jettas. The 1.8T Passat was longitudinal though. The R32 transfer case is a Haldex system. The Audi's are Torsen.

 

Now get a quote for an exhaust from Tim. He's in NJ.

On another note, I didn't overheat at all on the track this time. The only change I made to the cooling was using 100% water with a bottle of water wetter. I also deleted AC and the fan, may have helped airflow.

I decided to get mine ready again.... but im going to do less wiring mods than before to keep it simple.

How far is yours from running? I guess you had to cancel the May 1 dyno?

Kinda pissed that I forgot to replace the motor mounts in the winter. The engine really rocks around in there. I missed 4th and grabbed a bit of 2nd while flat-shifting

Going to the track on Wednesday. I'm gonna pick up a GoPro beforehand so I can get some footage up.

 

Great weather at the track today. I think I'll be need some new tires soon. My dog took a dump in the bathtub while I was out, just had to rinse it down the drain. I'm happy.

I don't remember Youtube uploads taking this long, so tired now. And what happened to my HD resolution, wtf!

Not sure what kind of power the BMW makes, he said it was chipped or something. I was consistently hitting 180 in the front straight, which is faster than last time, so I guess I'm improving. But I am in need of a bigger rad. I was overheating today.

It probably depends on what organization is running the event. I usually go to the ones that are run by the track corporation itself. The rules are actually enforced and people get kicked out for the day for not observing the rules.

As for the optional helmet thing....I don't know, Darwinism at it's finest I guess. I always wear one. Some people choose not to or just don't know any better. There is also no tech inspection unless it's part of some racing series.

I do need duct work. I have been putting it off. I was planning to pick up some ABS sheet, but don't have a vehicle big enough to fit a 4'x8' sheet at the moment.

 

100% do ducting. The new rad will still overheat without airflow.
