The center in/out will fit fine.
The one he has is even quieter.

That's the only reason. Abe/ARTech confirmed that the exhausts he's built with the 12579 are slightly quieter than the 12578 that everyone loves, so it wins.

I have faith in Gesso's ability to weld things back together after I FaeFae the everliving crap out of them. The gov't paid him to weld F18's back together, so I'm pretty sure he can handle some mild tubes

I'm willing to pay +$20 for an even quieter exhaust. As fate would have it, I bought the 12579 from 18psi NIB. He values silence as much as I do and he's seen and heard TONS more of these setups than I have. I trust his (somewhat questionable) judgement

I love install pics, do it! And yes, I'll be following the ARTech routing. If it requires an extra 90 or something I'm really not that worried about it. Are there things I could do to optimize flow and eliminate bends? Probably. Do I actually NEED that extra 2~5%? Lolnope. Minor sacrifices are completely worth it to me to get that extra bit of silence. Magical EFR 6258 will spool like crazy and make more power than I need anyway, plus no E85 so its not like I'm in a pissing match with Soviet here. I've specc'd everything to support ALLOFIT from a 6258 so that option exists. Is 300hp/300tq or more possible from this setup? Hell yes. Do I plan on running that regularly? **** no, I'm a giant

Super ninja stealth exhaust FTW! I'm one of those guys "out west" with the super sound requirements. Right now I'm at work sitting less than 10 miles from MRLS. I believe they have (don't quote me) a 92db sound requirement for most track events, but I'd prefer to be WELL under that.

Thanks! We'll see how well it fits the bumper cutout once it gets here. I'll post pics.

Time to face facts: I'm not going to have the EFR in the car for Miatas @ MRLS in September

Why?
  1. Manifold and downpipe aren't here yet
  2. Exhaust system parts are not here yet
  3. Once the parts get here, it still needs to be fabricated
  4. Donor for built motor isn't even in the shop
  5. Intercooler mounting/plumbing isn't mapped out
  6. Oil/Water lines are not completed
  7. I've been working a minimum of 58hrs/wk for the past 3 weeks and I don't see this changing going forward
  8. I'm in Las Vegas this weekend so that's another whole weekend lost
  9. There is no way in hell I have time to complete this in 3 weekends
Sooo... priorities are going to shift a little. I'll still be there, but I'm going for a SuperMiata kinda build rather than all out with the EFR.

**** what needs to get done:
  1. Ordered RacingBeat "Race Connecting Pipe" to complete exhaust
  2. Order parts and build SuperMiata style intake
  3. Install monstrous TSE radiator
  4. Fix my stupid ducting
  5. Port Squaretop for 64mm throttle body
  6. Install Squaretop + Hondata gasket + 64mm throttle body
  7. Finally install Carbotech brake pads
  8. Brake ducts
  9. Install aftermarket gauges (specifically oil pressure, oil temp, coolant temp)

If I have time, maybe:
  1. FM framerail braces
  2. SuperMiata damper + 4T wheel
  3. Find out what Andrew @ Trackspeed wants for a couple of hours of N/A dyno tune time

Its not a terrible list, and without the actual 140~ish hp SuperMiata horsepower "cap" maybe we can squeeze a couple extra horses out of this BP4W. Should still be fun and totally attainable.

Well Damn! Sound like you have a good plan already. With that resonator you should meet your sound goal easily. I was seriously surprized and almost dissapointed when I started my car with the 12578 for the first time. Couldn't hear a thing. I now vaguely remember the center/center one being reported to be a little quiter when i did the research for my build.

Sorry to hear your track day plans are going to crap. If it makes you feel better, mine are too. I was planning one the first week in October. Would be the first one since the turbo went on the car. I set a goal to have the thing on the road for proper tuning and shakedown runs before end of July so I could get everything figuired out by the end of September. All that got screwed when I blew something in the MS2 this past weekend!
Oh well! Good luck!

I used a 12589 with one center and one offset because I was not sure how the inlet routing would be. Allowed me to use front, middle or back entrance from the mid-pipe. Ended up using the center and the offset was for the exit. So, you should have no problem with the center / center.

Sound is good with this muffler and the big 3" Cat (P/N 59959), which I would expect to have similar sound effect as the resonator. Not perfectly quiet, deep throaty with no droning, and no ricer fart sound.

I'm pleased with the 12589 with straight pipe; plenty quiet in all DD conditions and I haven't even run it with my cat in yet. A resonator/cat will probably kill it dead.

Yes, I'll be @ MRLS unless someone who has my last name or I share a significant portion of my genetic code with is in the hospital.

One of the guys at work emailed me this afternoon and ask why there was a pile of boxes for me at the office that, and I quote "sounds like a robot orgy when shaken." I think my exhaust components have arrived

Update: My memory is not so good. Working on the car today and realized that, with the longer radius bends, I went to the offset inlet. So, if you go to center, you may well need tighter radius 90's or 180's. Here is a picture of my installation:

Epic response, props given. Look forward to meeting you @ MRLS. I was bummmed when you posted about the plans changing thinking you were saying you weren't gonna make it.

The nice thing about the NA track car setup is it's just a show up, check oil, drive car type-a thing. That'll be perfect for the relaxed miata's @ mrls track day atmosphere.

DNM: Thanks for the pics. And yeah, I bought tight radius bends because I figured that would be easier to fit. In fact, I did 16ga mild because the available radii were tighter from the vendor I chose to use. It might not be "ideal" or "optimal" but I'm sure it'll be fine for my goals.

EE: Yep, a well set up Miata at speed is a helluva bunch of fun at the track. It just sucks to miss the goalposts. And really, I'm not that impressive a human being, just a guy with too much time on his hands.

Dude, I had the pop-out helicopter vents in Florida. No issues with rain.

Don't you live in/near Monterey though? Rain ought to be the last thing you're concerned with, lol. Rain. You're funny.

And its not even my car!

You people rapidly forget how much of a giant wuss I am.

Koto: did you have the NSX out on Hwy 68 sometime in the last couple weeks? I think I spotted you. Red NSX really stands out in a crowd

Yeah. During the summer months the windows on my house here just stay open. I drove the NSX around without windshield wipers on for two months because I took them off to paint them and just never bothered to put them on again. The funny thing is that the locals complain that it's "freezing" and break out the umbrellas for a light mist.

Hmm, maybe. Look for blue lugnuts on RPF1s, or for aerocatch pins. There might be a couple other red NSX coupes around here but only mine has those AFAIK.
