Keep up the good work. In a week you do what most of us contemplate doing all year.

No video will cause extreme disappoints ... I might unsubscribe and pre-emptively unfriend you on the Facewebs.

Way more flow than needed sounds like an understatement. It may actually generate quite some heat trying to reduce the flow mechanically with a restrictor. And reducing the rpms with PWM won't get you all the way to where you need to be and it will also lower the suction-ability.
You could also reduce the flow by grinding the gears down to maybe half height and putting a spacer on top of them to fill the void.

Thanks man! I'm working hard to get this thing built and on the road. Can't wait to drive it.

There will be videos. I just meant a first-startup video. Never done one, but why not?

I think PWM would be the easiest/best way with this pump. Or maybe just let it honk, the turbo will restrict the flow of oil into it anyways, so it shouldn't be working that hard vs my test when I stuck the hose in a bottle of oil. Hooked to the turbo should be like a LS7 at idle so to speak.

Back to work!

I've got that Northern Tool brand welder too. I've noticed the same thing about wirefeed . . . sometimes its spot on, sometimes . . . .

I guess you get what you pay for (mine was actually a refurbished special -- so really cheap). Before my next significant welding project, I may upgrade too.

I dunno, most first startup videos I've seen involve fire extinguishers or the wish that one actually had one standing by.

I have two fire extinguishers and a water hose ready right now. I always do when doing fab work. And a huge one in the trunk I carry all the time.

Source: Lost a sweet car to a fire before, it sucks.

Oil pump is mounted! Making progress.

Still doesn't run, but very close. Here's my "list" for tomorrow. Everything else is done or I forgot to do it. Went and watched Dead Pool tonight, was good, highly recommend, but not good for building fast car.

BOV hose, install it.
Wire up relay/fuse for oil pump.
Install radiator/fan assembly/coolant hoses/plug in fans
Install ground wire to chassis
Install hose/Tee for Secondary MAP sensor
Install ignition coils
Add coolant
Add oil
Idle car, check oil drains, check for leaks
Test drive
It's almost done. Should be firing it up tomorrow for sure!

Current list:

Wire up relay/fuse for oil pump.
Install radiator/fan assembly/coolant hoses/plug in fans
Install ignition coils
Add coolant
Add oil
Idle car, check oil drains, check for leaks
Test drive

Did a few things today that weren't on the list I forgot about, but I think now it's pretty much this and hit the key. Going to look over the engine bay again for anything I've missed that's not on the list, then begin on oil pump wiring. It will be driven by a relay that operates when the fuel pump is on.

Runs!

Just did a 15 mile test drive. Making 13.2 PSI from front turbo, 4.4 from rear. So not a lot of boost, total at motor was 17 PSI. Front turbo is laggy as I figured being an ebay special, it's making full boost around 5,000 in 2nd gear starting at 3,000, rear is at full boost in 2nd gear by 6,000. Better in higher gears obviously. This is wastegate on both, no boost controllers for shake down.

Will be putting a boost controller on big turbo tonight to get the boost up.

Surprisingly no failures that I know of! Ran great. Given all the stuff that's new, that's awesome.

Oil pump for rear turbo is loud, need to PWM it down the road. 15 mile trip it was 165*F on the motor, so kinda hot too. PWM it will help that too.

Exhaust is retarded loud, will be maping out the rear of the car and ordering some cat/muffler stuff tonight.

Stupidcharged to compound turbo'd in 16 days!

Wastegate only on each turbo

EDIT: Since I didn't say, red is total map, Yellow is pressure entering small turbo to show the big turbo spooling.

Yeah, that's pretty ******* terrible and I bet it has nothing to do with it being an ebay turbo. Although I've heard similar numbers from begi t2's, so maybe...

All the 1.8's can spool the larger t3 by 3K, and I can do the same on a 1.6 with corn. So why's your smaller turbo suck so much? Is something broken or did you just pick the wrong one?

Any vids with exhaust noise?
I'm really curious what it sounds like.
I'm definitely not faulting you for wanting a quiet car, but I have a feeling a lot of us are more tolerant of noise.

his "smaller" turbo is a 2860 or something.
it's small only relatively to the "large" one

also he's running like the crappiest exhaust manifold known to mankind

...even still, I'm kinda excited to see this thing driving

He's also on only the wastegate, even an MBC would help. If you're going to put just 1 MBC in this car it should be the front turbo.
