I canceled it yesterday

With the car dying on me a couple days ago and too many issues left unaddressed (no tach, stock radiator, no coolant reroute, stock brakes, rollbar still isn't in, etc, etc), I didn't feel like I'd could get it ready and trust it to get me 100 miles to the track, beat the crap out of it, and 100 miles back home.

I hate stock coil packs. and do a tach output mod - it's a lot easier and saves time in future when you install man coils.

^ +1, any writeup on wiring the tach output? I installed my COPs today, still no tach.

For some reason I was thinking that was just a 1.6 thing, and after not getting a signal on the stock ECU I had absolutely no faith the resister trick was going to work, but it did. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF. Thanks for the tip.

I'm going to take it out to an autocross test and tune on Saturday and see how well it does.

I took the car out to autocross today and it ran great. I talked a little crap to a friend with an '06 S2000 beforehand, and backed it up by beating him by 2 seconds. I took a video, probably not recommended if you're epileptic due to excessive vibration, but figured I'd post it up anyway.

I'm planning to get my injectors, fuel rail, and fuel pump in tomorrow and start to retune.

Hell yeah! Can't wait to see this thing come together. After driving a 1.8 car, there's so much more torque to launch with - even stock.

Which is why there is currently a 99 motor in my garage.

Time for a quick update. About a week ago I was driving home from work and the car died again, $&@^*. With my previous ignition issues, and swapping everything over to COPs, I assumed I'd screwed up something. I pulled the plugs and was getting spark, but no fuel.

I couldn't hear the fuel pump so I pulled and tested it. It worked fine out of the car, but nothing in the car. Someone apparently though it was a good idea to hack up the fuelpump harness and ground the fuel pump to the tank itself. I found a friend with a junk miata and robbed the harness from it. Fuel pump now works. The more I look at this car the more I find stupid crap "repairs" done by the previous owner, who apparently thought he was Macguyver.

After that mess I gave up on this thing being a daily driver and shopping for a cheap daily. I bought a 2001 Civic EX, 168k miles, a little beat up paint, manual, and frigid AC, for $1900 (which I thought was a steal).

Today I pulled the AC out of the Miata, mounted the intercooler and new Koyo radiator. Hopefully I can get motivated to finish up a coolant reroute and swap in my fuel rail and injectors this weekend.

More likely than not, its the fuel pump relay. I've seen more than a couple fail.

I grabbed a spare from my friend's junk car. Is that something that would be an intermittent issue (since it's running after correcting the wiring issues)? Maybe I'll swap it out since I've got another one anyway.

I know for a fact on hondas the "main relay" which controls the fuel pump, etc, will fail intermittently. Basically anytime it gets hot usually.

Got all the turbo stuff on this weekend. Tied up some loose ends last night and took it around the block. Tonight I got a little more time to play with it and got a quick datalog to start working on the basemap in boost. It's piggy rich and running rough but managed to get a halfway decent 3rd gear pull to run through virutal dyno.

I'll get some pictures up tomorrow. Still haven't gotten the NB exhaust hangers moved so it's open downpipe right now, I'm sure my neighbors love me!

Somehow i missed this update. VERY sexual man, i'm stoked you got it running with boost. Looks like you can squeeze out a few more WHP on the stock motor if you are feeling brave.

Any updates?

The car started forcing coolant out of the overflow a few weeks ago. I've driven it sparingly since, assuming the headgasket is crapping out. Pretty depressing after only a couple 100 miles with the turbo on.

Then I drove it to work last week and saw a friend in a 2.0T GTI, I chased him down and played around a bit. After working him over pretty good the car started smoking and I could smell oil. Pulled over and it's now puking oil out of the valvecover, onto the exhaust manifold. I babied it to work and back and parked it.

That did get me motivated to disassemble my stock 10AE motor and drop it off at the machine shop to be bored/honed. I got the classic "It will be done in less than a week" timeframe when I dropped it off 11 days ago so hopefully it will be out soon.

As she sits now:

Also picked up a GTX2867, I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs compared to the GT2871 I've been running.
