Rent the tool designed for this purpose. Do not use an impact.

(If doing it again I'd probably just very carefully draw it down with the bolt, but then I like to live dangerously. Again, DO NOT USE AN IMPACT)

 

My understanding from the original thread is there is no installer tool. Just an uninstaller tool.

Crank bolt is how everyone I've seen says to install it. Ed is struggling to remove the stock ones since my guns have gone to bed.

Edit: found the tool. Boring, as long as Ed hasn't had any cider tonight he should be fine installing it with the bolt.

He wussed out and used the starter

 

Rusty spark plug is a result of washing the engine bay some time ago. Won't be doing that again.

Couldn't get the stock crank bolt off with leverage, so I used the starter. Damn that's easy.

I just used the crank bolt to put the new damper on, and it was really easy. I slightly chamfered the edges of the hole on the back of the pulley to help me get it started, and it snugged right down into place. After spending 20 minutes looking for my notebook charging cable, a simple change in MS settings and she fired right up, albeit with insane belt squeal and a hesitation upon throttle application (will have to figure that one out.)

Oh, and Aidan, I did have a cider thank you very much. The slight buzz is how I ended up in the garage tonight in the first place, since I felt relaxed.

 

Tomorrow I'm going to find the picture of your last tipsy wrenching malfunction.

Are you referring to the brake bleeder you broke? Oh, no, just the zerk I broke.

Back to the car. Fender liners, TSE 25-row oil cooler install, and she's ready to start tuning again. And boost.

 

Finder liners? Why? Do they not get torn up?

 

I dunno, do they? Car is a mess so I thought they'd be a good idea. Would love to hear that's a terrible idea and I should leave them off.

I think NBs usually have more clearance. Ed where'd you find the crank damper?

I ran my fender liners with 225/45s on 9's. There were a couple of self-clearance spots on the fronts but otherwise no issues. May not have had those spots if I hadn't had to run the 5mil spacers to clear the brakes.

 

Blast. Fender liners it is. Tired of the bumper and fender getting filled with junk.

 

Even without spacers and with 700/400 springs, my fronts nicely self-clearance on track.

 

So it's decided. Ed will put on the fender liners, and if he doesn't self-clearance the **** out of them, obviously he must be driving like a *****.

In other news, after installing new plugs gapped to .025", 14 psi boost is nice and smooth. 15 starts to break up a bit still.

So, next step is ordering new plugs and coils. Just going to do all new **** so hopefully I don't have to worry about this garbage ever again. I might just call FM and see if they'll sell me just the plug wires from their big spark kit.
