Scaxx builds an E46

So I just took a look back and apparently all I ever really mentioned was that we bought the bmw. So a lot has gone down since that time. We were originally planning on getting it racing last June, maybe July? We started out as a group of 5. Around maybe Feb or so, we lost one of them. Things got delayed and I got frustrated by the lack of enthusiasm. Seemed like no one actually wanted to put in the time or money to make it a legit car and as everyone knows, time and money are two of the main ingredients in a race car. I got maybe a third of the cage finished and then people were only showing up to work on the car once a month so I pretty much stopped working on it. In the past I’ve ended up doing a large portion of the work and many times felt like I should just leave the team, I started feeling like that again at this time despite everything seeming like it was going to be different early on that year.
Nice fab work, BTW.

Thanks! Yeah, that's pretty much where we're at, we'll be renting out at least one seat a race. We're hoping that some of the guys come back to do a race with us cause it'd be fun to do it all together again, but having that many people on a team and getting everyone to work on the car is like pulling teeth. Hopefully we'll see each other out there this year!
Also, your sig makes me crack up every time I read it.

The part about a LS400 race car?
I actually pulled that quote out of the FAQ section.

Part out time
Unfortunately, due to the covid situation, my teammate has been unable to work on the car which pushed our first race into June @ PIR. Almost all the fab work is done (maybe a weekend left) but he was dealing with all the wiring and making sure the car runs correctly. This will probably be for the better since we'll actually get to shakedown the car now instead of going to the race without a shakedown. The car is currently at his shop so that he can work on it and then we'll bring it back down here so I can finish it.

I got it on the scale when I got home on friday. Looks like around a 35lb weight loss from the t56 when the bellhousing and shifter are on. A little less than I was hoping, but still a good chunk of change! I also pulled the inspection plate to verify that I got what I was told since Ryan R had a bad experience on his first one. Got the t56 sold already and selling the rear end to a local guy today.
There's a bit of fabrication coming up, but I guess I enjoy that anyway, so I'm looking forward to the process!

Lol. The reasoning is less about higher capacity, but more about options for gearing and lsd options. I'm switching to an 8.8 since you can get pretty much any ratio and I needed a 2.73 to work with the rpms (or lack of), tire size, and fourth gear in the 4 speed which is a 1:1. Since I'm only turning 6500 rpm, if I kept with the getrag, I'd be bouncing the rev limiter at 130 down the straight. Which would be pretty lolz, but not super optimal. The other option would be revving the engine to >7500, which while fun, sounds expensive.
At the end of the day, there's only one option for an lsd other than the stock one for the getrag. The 8.8 has stupid amounts of support and everyone makes things for it. I haven't really decided what I'm going to get yet, but still doing some research.

After you get this transmission situation..... your next project should be aero Don't worry about the "I need to work on the driver." bit, spoiler alert we ALL do! It will allow you to be more comfortable driving towards the limit, even though the limit is higher than before.

Quaife makes this one. You need a non-stock bearing on one side of it iirc.
@Marcus, I know lol, one day. It's even in the thread title. But I regretted doing so much at once the first time around and not being able to figure out which changes came from what. So I'm trying to do a little more scientific approach this time around. I still haven't hit my lap time goals at the local tracks either, and I'd like to hit those before diving into aero. One day
