I've ran the same NGK blue wires on my VVT head (same coils as your MSM) up to 340hp without any misfires, for years now, along with multiple other ~300hp VVT/MSM headed Miatas. Down with Magnacore!

I recently had a plug wire failure that I too wasted a bunch of time troubleshooting. The wires were specific to my flowforce LS coil kit, and only had ~10k miles on them (and looked brand new) so I didn't suspect them.

I haven't seen vlad around on mt.net in a while, hopefully he's doing well!

Yea these wires came with a pre-production SADFAB kit and maybe have 3K miles on them and also look new. Current setup looks ridiculous but it works. I'll shorten the wires (someday).

Keep letting those wires do its loopy thing, I like the whole keep'em guessing theme! Glad to hear you've solved it and the car is back to its old self. Keep us posted once its retuned!

Well for the 2nd time my 949 Racing Twin disk has failed. 1st time it was a used unit that looked good and the wear was in spec but failed to hold 400wheel. Then 949 reached out to me and we got new disks and floaters and it lasted almost 3K miles before it failed to hold the power again as seen here.

Than I needed to make a decision on what to put back in there, some other clutch or finally tear out the MSM trans and diff and replace with the BMW getrag260 trans and GM getrag G80 CTSV rear I had sitting in my garage for years. Well after 2 months the new trans and rear is in the car. Its not buttery smooth MSM trans that's for sure but I hope it hold the power better. Its notchy and now that all that is almost solid mounted its louder and much less daily drivable and more race carish. Seeing a 2100rpm tach at 55mph is super strange in a Miata. Can't wait to do some burnouts! Now I need someone to get this E85 tune done....... 18PSI where are you???

Nicely done! I haven't seen vlad active here in a few years now, you might hit him up via email! And tell him we miss him around here.

Any vibration issues at high speed with the drivetrain swap?

Fire beat me to it. I was also going to ask about the vibrations, although I'm not sure how much the swap differs between the 260 and the ZF boxes. Quite a pile of stuff that was removed. Any idea on weight difference with the swap?

Yea, he did some tuning for me about 2 years ago for me and we never finished. I know he had a lot going on with his new job and all. I have emailed and test him with no reply. Think I still owe him money.

I have less vibration than I did with the old setup, very smooth. I need more power or need to change gears because it seems slower. It is wild seeing 1900RMM at 65 tho.

I bet its heavier, but I have no data to back that up. Just me carrying it around. But I used to carrying a Miata rear alone and this included the subframe...so. I bet trans is about same, its small.

I have had the trans and rear in the car for a while with the ACT HD and solid unspring disk and it is undriveable. Its either a 4K launch or a stall. I have had many bad clutches over my 40 years driving and this one takes the cake. So trans is back out and goin to replace clutch with something. Spoke to Kmiata who verified we had the correct slave and master and line setup and after a few call admitted that the ACT HD they used to recommend has some "design tolerances" that cause issues like mine. ***, ok so now what they recommend is a SPEC Stage 3+ ($925)...and its 6 weeks out. Apparently they have a version specked for this setup that works well. This will be my 3rd clutch setup and I'm over it! Just send me one that works! Other issue is "18PSI" has ghosted and I need a E85 tune done because the Getrag rear I got is a 3:27 and that is not ideal with 400whp. Don't get me wrong you want a highway cruiser this is is, it idles at 55mph and under 2K at 80. Hope the E85 can get me closer to 450 so I dont have to change the gearing. What gearing you guys using with a similar setup? I know a 3:45 exists so....maybe.
