Damn Miatas...

Did a bit of engine bay cleaning on mine. I'm more of a function > form kinda person. So i don't really care to tuck wiring harnesses, or delete AC because it cleans up the bay.

After... Good enough for me.

Painted this nasty bitch.

Painted thinger, and nasty bolts won't matter when it's making a ton of power.

Well.... I told my buddy i was only going to tease these to him.

But i'll be getting the engine back within a week or so. So i'll tease you guys with them too.

Sent from the builder, not completely done yet. Just a tease.

Should've gone for a 99+ head. Less money, equal results. Unless you explained before why you didn't but I can't be bothered to scroll all the way back up

if the work didn't cost him a ton then I dont think its all that bad.
if it did, then bummer.

I'm hoping there are flow numbers that will come with that head when its done, so we can haz more information about pnp

I'm not a big baller like you guys, cost saving had to be done somewhere. The engine i got had 50k miles on it. Plus the opportunity for a low milage full engine and trans for the deal i got wasn't available at the time. I need to find me a 6 speed ASAP.
PnP work was within reason as far as price. Head will come with 1mm oversized valves, and 63lb springs. He also said he can get some flow numbers for me too. Keep in mind guys, i'm sticking with my little itty bitty turbo for now. I want reliability, with the option to upgrade turbos should i ever want to. (probably about 2 weeks after it's back on the road)

Thats what I was thinking. On a budget = pick up a 99+ head from the junk yard and run it.

>implying I can just find a bunch of miatas at junkyards around here.

I've been looking for a local 6 speed for 4 months now and have not found one yet.

Builder said:

Not your average "fluff 'n buff" - Mazda 1.8 BP
A CNC'd version of the Mazda head shown will be available later this year, once development is done
Thinking maybe he shouldn't waste his time with that, and find a 99 head to work over. Compare results vs the worked over 95 head.

I'll be talking with him this weekend (hopefully) or when ever i pick the engine up.

Yup 99-00 head would make much more sense.
01-05 would be even better yet, since its the best head for the 90-05 miata

Pardon my ignorance, but is it just runner size and design is different / better with the later year heads?

Nevermind.
I didn't bring my lube. I'll search it up.

Flow numbers are on their way, he has to get the correct bore size for the Superflow flow tester.

Not sure if you can see this attachment.
