Sweet ride, no helmet laws in your state huh

I have actually found all the single port cans to be very reliable. Dual port cans are a different story but the primary ports work fine. I got my current can so I could open it up and close it a bunch of times, it seals perfectly.

Well, I live in a helmet state, and I don't ride motorcycles anymore. But IIRC above about 100mph you tear up and it doesn't bother you anymore. Wasn't always a helmet state.

That's really not my style, but you might see a few in my neighborhood. They would definitely have a matching airbrushed rainbow unicorn helmet too though. I mean you guys have seen my car right? It's basically a total beater, and it's the nicest vehicle I have.

I guess it's because I grew up in SF, I don't want to have any nice cars. They always get messed up parking in town, better to have a beater, so you don't get too pissed about such things.

Ok, I figured it out, everything. My BOV is actually a POS in disguise, I never made the connection before. On the 3rd attempt to get the valve guide assembly to seal to the body of the thing, I loaded it up with gasket sealant. It's better but still freaking leaks. In fairness the manufacturer only claims it good to 20psi. Oh well back on in case by some miracle the drag race doesn't get cancelled.

I run an ebay Tial knock it's like 10 years old, haven't touched it since 2008, works great and doesn't leak.

More attempts to seal my POS BOV today. On the second attempt I hesitantly removed an o ring, man what a difference. Now the thing seals on the diaphragm instead of an o ring on the diaphragm.
The valve stem still leaked a little so I loaded it up with faucet and valve lube. Now it takes about 30psi to generate bubbles at the valve stem, with none anywhere else.
Hopefully I can get a good log tonight to see if the oscillation disappears.
​​​​​Otherwise, I am getting a Tial type piston BOV. But that won't happen until the sequential ignition and fuel pump upgrade.

I've had good success with my Forge. I did have to clean and lube it after 3 years of use. Piston type, model 007.

Thanks, I have read a bunch and I found a distributor in the US ecstuning, I think. The Forge valves do seem to be the nicest available. Looks like only the 008 is available now, but it seems to be similar quality.

Have you ever pumped a bike pump on the reference port? If so how much pressure does it hold solid?

I am looking forward to trying the 2 crappy ones on order. Currently just accepting my oscillation for the moment, my boost leak is tiny and only shows up around 20psi. I think the pressure must be stretching the diaphragm enough to let a tiny bit escape, but I'm not certain.

I have not. However, mine, from UROTuning (also only 008 now) came with all (4) springs. Forge site says Blue is good to 30, and it comes with the 008. If you want more that that, I can send you the red one I have (should have, I'll check later, if you are interested). Amazon has 008 for $163. I used a filter on the outlet, but you may well not need one with the heavy spring (not sure I needed one). They also make a blow-off only double piston that assures closure at idle: FMDV004. If you write to sales@forgemotorsport.com they have been great to answer my questions in about 48 hours.

I intend to run a soft spring, I am more concerned about leaks between the reference port and the dump port. My valve seals the boost pipes, but the intake manifold leaks boost out of it's reference port above 20psi.

OK, I think I can check that. However, the design of the recirc valves, at least are such that there is an o-ring that is sealing the exit. The entrance and the reference port are seeing exactly the same psi during boost and open throttle, so, I cannot imagine leakage.

In other words, even if the annular o-ring would want to leak, there is equal pressure on both sides of it, or more pressure on the boost port.

So, come to think of it, just pressurizing the reference could show a leak that would not exist in actual use.

See and notice that the new valves have double o-ring. nice. If you look at 1:58 you will see the o-ring at the chamfer on the end of the piston that seals hard on the body at the outlet.

Note: the 90 port is the boost inlet and the in-line port is the outlet.

I put bike pump on it this evening. Both 1" ports open. 60 psi and it was still holding.
