Intercooler should be sitting in my apartment. I forgot to post I ordered all the connectors I should need for the VVT engine swap, those should be here soon. I ordered the inconel 300ZX studs and more copper lock nuts than I know what to do with. I bought them in packs of 25 for 12 bucks, wasnt sure if flange head would fit so I bought a pack of flange and a pack without. If these start backing off, or if I fail these studs I'll just order the TSE 10mm stuff, but for now with only 60 bucks in, I'm not doing too bad. And I can always sell the nuts in small quantities if they work.

Maybe that img link will work. I'm going to wack one of the outlets off and make it point up, not exactly the best for flow but with the million pound cast tank ends on this thing, its going to be the second thing to go (after the soft top) when I start seriously looking at weight reduction.

Money had to be cut somewhere. It'll be at least 80% as good as a legitimate IC at 10% of the cost. I'm expecting a IC with a good core and properly designed end tanks to cost a grand to pay someone to make and I'm still not confident enough in my aluminum welding to try and do my own, which I could do for around 3-400. It's not going to be on e85 this season, no point. I'm going to be struggling to not explode the 5speed all year, and I'm going to be terrified of eating the torsen or an axle on every prosolo drag launch. Once I have a 6 speed and giken it'll be going on e85 and running ALLOFIT.
And at some point I know I'm going to break an axle launching on hoosiers since that even happens to CSP cars making 140-180wheel, I know driveshaft shop can make them, they have outers for our car that they using in the 8.8 ford axle kit, and inners for the rx7 that should fit our diff, so they should just need to make the right length shaft to connect them. But I'll cross that bridge when I break one.

You don't want to beef up the axles. Axles are $50 each and can be changed in about 30 min. They are a cheep "fuse." If I could pick one part in the drive line to break, I can't think of one that is cheaper and easier to change.

But I'd rather have a drive train where nothing breaks, even if it costs me more to begin with. Yeah it only takes 30 minutes to change an axle but there goes an entire tour if you break one on your first run of the day. MAYBE you'll get it done for the 3rd run.

And if you make one part stronger....the next weakest part will break instead. I have seen a couple OSG's break, more than a few 6 speeds, drive shafts etc etc etc. All more expensive and more difficult to change than a $50 axle.

Just trying to give you a little advice and offer some help as someone who has already fought this battle. If you ever want to know how I have done anything to the car, or what I have done to it...just ask. I'll be more than happy to help where I can.

I'm not sure if I will make it to Jersey...but I should be at the DC Pro. It's a long *** drive up that way. But we have just limited choices for Pro's on the east coast. If I end up having to choose one or the other I might head to Lincoln for the "Spring Nationals."
Sometimes in person I come off as "stand offish" don't take it personal if we ever meet....at an event my mind is usually going 10,000 different places and I'm trying to stay focused.
You will like the National "SSM" crew. Jake, Brian, Dan, Carter, Jim, Martin, Erik and I are all pretty good friends. It's a pretty laid back class. Carter co drove my car at teh St Louis tour this year in E-Mod. He gave me some great feed back that has made a big difference in the car. It was something I NEVER would have looked for....but after one run he pointed it out. I thought it was pretty cool that he was willing to help like that....so I have decided to "Pay it forward."

So when trying to find picture for the ugly cars looking good thread I found the pictures for the last event of the year and a bunch of me, photo dump courtesy of Eddy Savage.
Locked em up
There's no way I didn't hit that.
Check out that rust... I mean weight reduction.

Since trackspeed still hasn't finished my engine I ordered some parts from Bill at Miata Roadster, 900cc EV14's from FIC, the long shifter for the 5 speed, DDM works radio surround with 3 gauges (so I'll have the non-gauge surround available at some point), springs. I didnt order the autokonection fenders though, the kevlar ones arent going to be ready till the middle of the summer. Fiberglass is available now but there's a 5 pound weight difference per fender. So for now I'm just going to sawall the stock ones to clear the hoosiers, and buy the kevlar ones when they're ready in the summer. Its not like my stock ones are very nice, they're average, kind of poorly rolled with a pvc pipe and have lots of rock chips.
Also registered for the jersey pro today. Tuba you really should sign up. I'm working on maybe getting a co-driver if I can get the car together and with you and a co-drve we'd make a class and not get sent to bump hell.
Oh and I "accidentally" printed the AEM EMS4 manual at work today... Its about as thick of a ream of paper.
