Supermiata S1 build - Vegas

Mayhaps I could ask where you sourced the 10mm alumilite? I want to get some for a splitter but I do not have a local source and shipping is a bizzo.
I love the diff/trans cooler setup. Very GTLM/GT3 spec stuff. It's definitely cool seeing you do a turbo wheel to wheel car. Something different from the 949 brain trust, at least, something different that the public gets to see.

Visit the seat mfr website for dimensions. I'm very skinny (6-3, 160lb bicycle racer) so any normal American dude is "big" to me. The HTE-R 400 fits in a cage Miata better than any other FISA seat I have seen. The 400 refers to the wing width, 400mm where most seats are 560-620mm. That's right where the door hoop/hardtop is. Too wide a set and you have to cut part of the wing off and compromise seat position and comfort. AFAIK, no other FIA seat is anywhere near that narrow.
I'm a sticker for getting the seat in the most comfortable and safe position while remaining centered behind the center of the steering wheel. This goes a long way to reducing driver fatigue in enduros. Crusher had a Cobra Evo with a TC cage build around the seat. Every driver that got in it said it was either the most comfortable Miata or most comfortable race car they had ever been in. For me, the seat was a bit too close to the pedals but I mounted it there so normal height drivers could fit in.
Te steering column is angled. In my cars I always have a very long extension on the hub adapter so the wheel is maybe 4-5" further back than OEM. Driver weight further back also helps weight distribution and is safer. The centerline of the wheel and the spot where the shaft attaches to to the dash bar are often a good 1/2" offset since the shaft is angled. I put my seats behind the center of the wheel, not where the shaft attaches to to the dash bar. With a wide seat, that's difficult. I have also driven Miatas that had their seat angled a few degrees to fit the tub and also radically offset from the wheel centerline. I found those excruciating to drive.
edit: I sat in/owned OMP seats other than the HTE-R 400 before buying it. Compared data on OMP's site so I could estimate how I would fit in it. IOW, sit in any OMP seat that you can still find official dimensions for and perhaps extrapolate fit into the HTE-R 400.
You lost man points by quoting the pics BTW

We fit the HTE-R 400 in a caged car - the seat is lovely, but it would still sit too high for my liking (6 foot 2). I opted to drop the floor an inch or 2.
I'm not a rotund fella, but I like to sit low. I also chose to leave the butt cushions out for extra height gain.
Oh and yes - right hand drive.

Vegas is at Renderos Racing getting paint, Bass Boat Orange. Interior, underside and engine bay are dove gray gloss. Also decided on a few little changes to the front end after we got it from TC so Alex is taking care of that.
TC made custom flared steel fenders for it. Alex had them copied in composite. Mine are thin FRP with a layer of Kevlar for flexibility. Note the front shock tower to door hoop tie bar that obviates the brake booster, thus the Tilton pedals.

Was lucky I did that final check. I was so concerned with being square, straight, inclined just right for my dodgy back that I totally missed checking the head/helmet area restrictions. Presumably you haven't made the same mistake....
It seems that I have to now relocate the seat about 2-3 cms in, meaning cutting the tunnel etc. Would also like to go a bit lower but that means a whole new floor, cutting oem frame rails the aftermarket AND the frame rail strengtheners......got put in the too hard basket for the time being...

Exciting.
You know, for as many times as you excuse the quality of the video during it due to the lighting, I think that camera did amazingly well and the quality is fine. Another random old GoPro Hero 2?

Couple picks I snapped on my way out. John has moved Vegas to its new home on the two post.
Left rear wheel/tire is a 15x11 6UL with a 275/35. Right rear is a 245/40 Maxxis RC1 on 15x10 for this cars eventual usage as a Supermiata S1.
The cage ties in at both shock towers, windshield frame and b pillar. It also has some gussets added as extra A pillar/main hoop FIA bar “style” reinforcement.

I think I'm going to run a 1/4" windshield on this one. The 3/16" shields we usually use rattle a bit above 120mph. Ordered a pile of sensors for it today. Capacitive fuel sender isn't as sensitive to sloshing. Ran one of those on Crusher back in the day. The diff and trans will have sending units going into the MS Evo so we can control the separate fans and pump from the ECU. The ECU will data log those temps plus feed that info through the CAN bus to the AIM MXG.
Can't stop looking at that paint though. I love it.
