What a joke...First the payment was apparently made within hours of the hack, yet the public didn't know that for many days (close to a week) and the pipelines were shutdown for much longer.
Then when the reports of the payment came out it was reported that the ransom was paid in an ANONYMOUS cryptocurrency (aka NOT Bitcoin but something more like Monero which is what most criminals would choose to use since it is actually anonymous).
Now they say it was paid in Bitcoin, but the criminals only sent it between a few addresses before apparently sending it to an exchange in the USA? (https://storage.courtlistener.com/re...379840.1.0.pdf) I mean, crypto criminals of the past made scripts and sent the coins to hundreds or thousands of addresses to confuse analysts and most of the time they didn't touch the coins right away. Not only that but crypto criminals would prefer an anonymous crypto over something trackable on a public ledger like Bitcoin.
Complete and utter bullshit, there is no way that "cybercriminals" who steal 10's of millions of dollars could be this stupid. They will use this as a double whammy to also regulate crypto and US crypto exchanges, too. Clown games.
