I have to admit I don't understand the purpose, or the timing, of making Juneteenth a national holiday.

The white guy in charge basically just stated that slavery in the US ended on 19 June 1865, and to celebrate, he's giving government employees, the majority of whom are white and did not lose a single penny in pay or benefits during the lockdowns, another paid day off.

 

Other than the name being stupid and possibly racist juneteenth is a big fat who cares. I honestly had never heard of it till last week.
