I came across this and it may help to explain what I was saying before about the 14th. CO can say that they believe DJT was responsible for what happened on J6, but they can’t define or make a declaration of insurrection.

“”For the “insurrection clause” to apply, there has to be an insurrection. That means there has to be a declaration of insurrection.

Congress and the Lincoln administration both defined and declared an insurrection. There’s been no declaration now which means, legally speaking, there’s no insurrection and therefore no insurrection clause applies.””

I dunno. Some of those officers were giving pretty "insurrection-y" guided tours.

And again, the Tea Party and even the Proud Boys are going to need to bring more than lawn chairs to these insurrections if they want to get anywhere.

From 1856 through 1988, the state of Maine has been almost entirely solid-red. During that 130 year period, its electoral votes went to a democrat candidate only three times.

Since 1992, however, the state has flipped to very solidly blue in both the House and the Executive, although, curiously, 1992 was also the *last* year in which a Democrat represented Maine in the US Senate.

Today, Maine has reached another milestone, becoming the second US state to rule that former President Trump is ineligible to appear on the ballot in 2024.

And this time, it's the Secretary of State issuing the order. Full text: https://www.washingtonpost.com/docum...aac72de633.pdf

This has proven surprisingly divisive. Among many similarly dissident voices, Democratic Congressman Jared Golden of Maine quickly issued a statement condemning this action, saying “I voted to impeach Donald Trump for his role in the January 6th insurrection. I do not believe that he should be re-elected as President of the United States. However, we are a nation of laws, therefore until he is actually found guilty of the crime of insurrection, he should be allowed on the ballot.”

So, that's a thing which happened today.

But, in all seriousness...

As 2023 draws to a close, I make the following prediction about the 2024 US Presidential Election process: It's gonna be a wild ride. I would not be surprised in the absolute least if martial law winds up being imposed in order to quell the violence at the end.

In other ridiculous news of the day...

This post was below one where Spanish radio in San Diego was telling border crossers how they could "circle bacK" and go through the border again, which nets them $2,200 from our government each time they do it. One illegal said he'd done it four times in the past month.

Joe, I believe martial law will be imposed in order to quell the violence due to the cancellation of the election.

How is Peru taking the abrupt changes in Argentina and the economic miracle in Ecuador?

To say that she’s way out of her depth is like suggesting that the Atlantic Ocean has become wet. The guy interviewing her was obviously aware that his job relies on maintaining a cordial relationship with the Democrats in power, because he let her skate on a bunch of stuff. She as much as said that this was strictly her personal opinion, and he let it go - you should have seen his expression.

These folks are beyond help.

A gentle reminder to hardline conservatives:

The democrats have gotten you so riled up and distracted by the political theater to which they are presently subjecting Trump that you're not paying attention to the folks who are promising to actually fix real problems.

My sincere hope is that Vivek Ramaswamy heads a new cabinet post, under Trump--Secretary to Remove Government Overreach. Rand Paul would have my approval as well.

This is Trump, writing on his own Truth Social platform, two days ago:‎

The FBI Headquarters should not be moved to a far away location, but should stay right where it is, in a new and spectacular building, in the best location in our now crime ridden and filthy dirty, graffiti scarred, Capital. They should be involved in bringing back D.C., not running away from it, especially the violent crime. An important part of my platform for President is to bring back, restore, and rebuild Washington, D.C., into the “crown jewel” of our Nation. We will make it crime free and GREAT AGAIN. The FBI should not be fleeing for safer, yet much less convenient, environs. It should make where they are now the safest place on earth! DON’T MOVE THE FBI!‎

Trump seems to be very much in favor of preserving and protecting the power of the FBI.

Absolutely a weakness of Trump, as is his blanket Covid stances. He's got 11 months to clarify or adjust. I personally think Fauci and friends lied to America, as did our Big Pharma friends, and they need to be punished. Bigly. And I'm all in for Vivek's response to the alphabet portions of the government.

Please clean up your quotation of me.

Shortened for brevity, not to be nefarious. Panties need to be pulled, firmly, out of your buttcrack.

Trump couldn't even build a wall, as we so desperately need. You think this dude is going to disband the three-letter that killed JFK?

Heh.

I sometimes forget that tone of voice is not conveyed in text form. It seemed funnier in my head.
