New design, this one isn't cnc machined yet so it looks a little rougher. That stuff around the edge all gets milled off to make the nice shape you seen before. This design increases the stiffness and load bearing capability of the centers.
These are all engineering samples. We have to clean up the aesthetics. The parts are formed under such tremendous pressures that it pushes the weave out around the outside. We can clear that up but we're just working on the strength aspect for now. The parts are just ridiculously strong though, makes steel look like a wet noodle.

Yea we are going to paint those for you guys. I don't know I mentioned that before. I think they are a little hard to see in low light. The resolution is very good though. I think these timing marks are located as far out as you can get without directly putting it on the rim of the cam gear.

I've just got to see one of the NB triggers and how it is setup. I imagine it won't be a problem. I can get around the false triggering from the bolts too. I'll get it compatible, not a problem.

Why is people hating on Travis so much, I mean lets be serious! Yeah people say this is a useless upgrade, but you know what, the Fidanza 8 lbs flywheel, on my 97' Miata, and in the middle of rush traffic, is the most useless upgrade to me, but i still paid 350 dollars for it and so has everybody else...
Now if your talking about open back roads, heck yeah I really like the flywheel for its response. I think your product may have a shot...
Does lightening on the crank shaft pulley and backing plate have an effect on the harmonic balancing of the crank shaft? I have heard to many horror stories from people have installed aluminum crank shaft pulleys.
Please don't set me ablaze, Miataturbo can be a very hostile environment, especially to a supercharger guy like me.

There is no negative effect on balancing, as far as material aluminum does a much better job at killing resonances then pretty much any physically strong metal out there. Carbon laminate(amazingly enough), steel, titanium, they all make pretty good bells, but aluminum rings a bit more like lead. THUD So it should help with harmonics by some small small small amount.

The carbon version isn't final, but it kind of gives you an idea of what the carbon looks like.
The Boundary products that use carbon parts all go under "Carbon Series" and are offered as an upgrade to the standard with aluminum. The aluminum parts are still lighter then the stock gears, but certainly heavier then then the carbon.
Accuracy is very good on these, you could easily set half a degree on either version.
Weights are:
Stock 385 grams
All Aluminum 235 grams
Carbon Series 175 grams (less then half of stock!)
If you want to get really serious and ridiculous with weight we can put titanium fasteners in. The fasteners are nearly the heaviest part. Expect a real price premium with titanium hardware though. It is very expensive to stock!

As far as fasteners, aluminum is just too wimpy. With three stud/nut sets I want to make sure I've got a great high strength fastener in there that will hold up to thousands of tightenings no problem. The setups come stock with wavelocks, and the carbon series will have an additional washer ontop of the wavelocks to distribute the load better.
Right now I'm looking at 30 dollar a piece for titaniums studs 1 inch long. Yea right! I'll see how much they are to make in house and get back to you.
