Ahh didn't notice that. Maybe not.

Cool, I'll have to look into it. Ty

Here is my seat leg rubber cap mod. LOL  All I did was poke a hole in the middle, cut it in half with scissors, cut in a "grove" so the sheet metal will have a edge to grab, then jam it in. :) This fits perfectly for a temporary AC line plug on the firewall if anyone was wondering. :D

I zip tied the wideband wire

I'm actually not set on how I want to wire this stuff. Behind the seat might not be the best place. Just trying it out for now but I'm having wiring issues anyways. :(

Go for the butt splice record IMO.

edit: why the fuck are you running the wideband through the firewall instead of the shifter?

aidandj 03-16-2015 12:05 AM

Won't work well. Cranking the fuel pressure on NB injectors apparently works for really low boost. But no point at all if you already have a MS. Just buy some RX8 injectors or something.

I bought it used and it came all choppedup. I'll clean it all up over spring break. I really wanted to get it on to see if I can catch my p0300 and figure out if it's maybe coils or fuel related.

Yeah through the shifter sounds like a great idea! It's at the transmission tunnel hole where the stock second O2 sensor was.

I saw how cheap the rx8 injectors are and so they are on my list for future upgrades but I want to run my free oem injectors lol

Blowing up an engine because of a lean condition is a lot more expensive than injectors...

Im under the impression that my stock 265's will handle 7psi. But I'll start with 3psi just in case :D

aidandj 03-16-2015 12:35 AM

Your turbo won't run 3psi. Normally sr20 turbo wastegate pressure is like 8psi.

GOod point

Stock is 7 but yeah, I'm reading that I'll be fine. If you know of any threads that prove otherwise, I would really like to see them.

aidandj 03-16-2015 01:21 AM

Based on a statement made in this thread sr20 turbos are good for about 10whp per psi. Stock VVT engine is 142hp. So 7psi * 10 + 142hp = 212. But since you don't have the best flowing stuff lets say a round 200.

Calculate the required cc of injectors needed (from the wiki):

200 x .55 / 4 x .8 = 110 / 3.2 = 34.4 lb/hr x 10.5 = 360cc

So you need 360cc injectors.

Stock NB2 injectors are 265cc at 60psi (Because you aren't using an Adjustable FPR, just don't) so:

60 / 43.5 = 1.379

sqrt of 1.379 = 1.174

1.174 x 265cc = 311cc

So without any fuel management you are about 49cc's short...

These are pretty common on the islands right?

Yeah, you're one of those short.

That wiki article says 200 crank is 160whp and that the 265's can handle that at 80 percent duty cycle. But it does say something about 96psi fuel pressure? I think the NB2's have 60 and am now reading are unadjustable?... :sad2:

Maybe I do need injectors..

aidandj 03-16-2015 02:27 AM

Post above edited for NB 60psi fuel pressure.

Hinano 03-16-2015 02:59 AM

Not sure what to say because I don't fully understand all those numbers yet but the mazdaspeed Miata has the same injectors as the nb2's and correct me if I'm wrong but they run like 7psi stock no?

aidandj 03-16-2015 03:04 AM

Stock MSM is rated for 178hp. FM tested it and found that it was at 5psi.

Hinano 03-16-2015 03:24 AM

Wow I never knew that. But both fm and begi say stock injectors are maxed out at around 200 whp.. And thanks for all you input btw.

Fm seems to have also done a follow up reporting errors or something? I don't know, I'm reading on my phone and it's confusing but I'll have to investigate.

aidandj 03-16-2015 03:30 AM

I'm out. Just realize that running out of fuel is what blows shit up. Leaning out causes detonation, which breaks things. The last thing you want to do is spend 2k on a rebuild, which is 10 times more than injectors.

If you don't "fully understand all those numbers", you don't need to be physically boosting anything at the moment. Its the fundamental equation needed for proper injector sizes based on a HP goal.

Be patient and read/learn more, first. Rather than blow stuff up, first.
